We appreciate all of your support this year for our rides. We hope you are ready to ride because it's that time again!

HOT HUNDRED - July 26- Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa's Hot Hundred is gearing up for your arrival next Saturday, July 26th!

Even though many call the Hot Hundred a bicycle race, it is in fact a bicycle ride, which welcomes cyclists of all ages and skill levels.   We headquarter at the University Rec Center and support distances of 29, 36, 52, 71, and 103 miles with 6 very well-stocked Rest Stops and 7 support vehicles.  DCH Sports Trainers and Ham radio operators are at each Aid Station to watch for overheating issues and injuries, and provide communication.

Before the 7:00 ride start, please line up in the parking lot according to the distance you plan to ride (look for signs)...century riders up front. The first few miles through campus and downtown Tuscaloosa are considered a Neutral Start and everyone must remain behind the pace car. Give a shout-out to our Dirty South Cruisers motorcycle club members, stationed along University Blvd to help keep motorists stopped at the lights. And to our Tuscaloosa Police Department who provide an exciting and safe start to your ride! Be aware of our red warning signs for POLICE ESCORT ENDS HERE, SINGLE FILE ON HIGHWAY, RAILROAD CROSSING, CURVES AHEAD, and SPEED TABLES.

After your pedal, showers, lunch and swimming will await you. Bradford Health Services, one of our ABCS sponsors, is providing a Robertson's BBQ-sandwich lunch. While you're out riding in the heat, family and friends can take advantage of the pool after checking in at Registration...$5 entry fee for those over 4.

We are the 5th event in the Alabama Backroads Century

Series  and looking forward to awarding as many as 29 patches in recognition of 4 of the 10 centuries DONE!  We have plenty of medals to award our Centurions too! Everyone, no matter what distance you've ridden, check in when you return! Centurions, take a break and check in at our Johnson Hill Rest Stop during your ride.

We will be welcoming 20 Wounded Warriors from Forts Benning and Gordon. Woodmen of the World will present 2 flags at Ride Start in their honor. The Hot Hundred is the sole fundraiser for the Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance. Hosting these soldiers with both visible and invisible wounds of war has seemed a great "fit" with our cause and we are so proud of the support shown by local businesses in providing housing and meals for a great getaway weekend for these soldiers!

Ride details, Social Media and Registration links can be found at www.bikehothundred.com  Online registration ends Tuesday, July 22nd.

BIRMINGHAM BICYCLE CLUB CENTURY- Sept 6- Ashville

Well, we are not really sure that the dog in the trailer paid his registration fee to do the Century last year. But it sure looks like it is a DOG's life out there. You might see him again at rest stop 2 when you come out and ride with us this year.

Make plans to ride the 41st Annual Birmingham Bicycle Club Century. We have the same great routes as last year leaving from Ashville High School just south of downtown Ashville, AL. Choose from 27, 62 or the full 100. The ride is on for Saturday, September 6th. Onsite registration starts at 7AM and all routes leave out at 8AM. You too can have the thrill of victory as you collect your Alabama Backroads Century Medal for the full 100!

You can register online at

The route maps and links to our RidewithGPS files are online and you can download the routes in your favorite format.

ALL YOU CAN EAT CENTURY - Sept. 20 - Huntsville

Alabama's most scenic, well-supported, and well-fed century is back for 2014 and bigger and better than ever.  Save $10 and register before September 7!

This year, the All-You-Can-Eat Century of the 10-Event Alabama Backroads Century SeriesRiders from all over are coming to Alabama to check out the great roads.  The All-You-Can-Eat Century puts riders onto the best secret stash of asphalt in the state.   The 108-Mile Century route travels the stunning 17-mile stretch of TN-97/AL-65/CR-146 that is a designated Alabama Scenic Byway through the shaded Paint Rock Valley.   The road is so lightly traveled that moss grows in the pavement cracks. This is after ascending and riding along the ridgeline of Skyline Mountain. The 'Super Metric' 67-mile route traverses the shaded, remote Butler Mill Road along the Paint Rock River, one of the most scenic stretches of asphalt in the region.   Both of the long ride options feature a substantial climb mid-ride to add challenge and variety. The AYCE also offers 50 and 35-mile relatively flat routes for less ambitious or time-constrained riders.

As a Backroads Series Event, all riders finishing the 109-mile long route will get the nifty and substantial custom Alabama Century Series Centurion Medal.

The first 500 registered riders will receive a sharp-looking matched pair of white and red mini LED flasher lights to attach front and rear on your bike. A small, handy and very bright year-round reminder you did the most scenic century in Alabama.

Of course, in keeping with the name, all riders will enjoy a post-ride pasta feast professionally catered by Nothing But Noodles.  Both vegetarian and gluten-free options will be on the Menu.

Last Chance to Save $5 on entry for the All-You-Can-Eat Century Registration closes Thursday, September 19 at midnight. However, you can still get the $40 Pre-registration rate at Packet Pickup on Friday, September 20, 5-8 pm. On-site registration is $45 on Saturday.

So, you're a wiseguy and like to stand around in line on Saturday. Avoid a double finger-poke to the eyeballs and a nose-tweak Saturday morning and pick up your packet at Bicycles Etc., 611 Meridian Street, Huntsville.

You'll get your maps, cue sheets, custom Defeet Socks AND a tasty Brew Stooges Mo' Better Bitter. (It's actually not bitter, that's just the name of the style.)

Register Friday Night and save $5 over on-site registration on Saturday.... Or, register now at Active.com!

We want you there Friday night so we have fewer people to process during the crush on Saturday Morning. We are also crabbier than Mo and are inclined to a double finger-pokes to the eyes at 7 am Saturday morning.

So save yourself a double finger-poke, five bucks and enjoy a beer courtesy of the Brew Stooges at Bicycles Etc., Friday night, September 20. 5 - 8 PM.

A fundraiser for the David Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's, the Johnny Ray Century is the 9th ride in the Alabama Backroads Series. Registration is open at Active.com. Mail-in form and all additional ride day  information can be found at www.EastAlabamaCyclingClub.com. Grab your ticket and climb on board!

Join us in scenic Montgomery County for the Glassner Autumn Challenge. There are routes for everyone! Whether you want to enjoy a leisurely 16 miles or get your centurion medal for 100 miles, start your day with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, enjoy our themed rest stops and finish to tomato sandwiches and ice cream! Register early to save money and get in on early-bird door prizes that will be awarded throughout the upcoming months. Be sure not to miss out on safety-minded highly visible Glassner gear! Purchase with your registration before Friday, August 15 and you will have it on ride day. Register now and be a Glassner powerhouse because the wimps all stay at home!
