The Hamilton Lakes Hornets are pleased to announce that Mr. Connor Griffin has accepted the position of Head Coach of our swim team beginning with the 2015 CSA league season.

 

Coach Connor is the current Head Age Group Coach with the GCY Makos year-round swim team. (He will continue as GCY coach when he is not busy coaching the Hornets.)  Connor is an American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 certified coach and resides in Greensboro. 

 

During his tenure with GCY, Connor has led his swimmers to the following accomplishments:

 

•   48 team records broken
•   5 individual North Carolina state champions
•   8 YMCA national top 10 rankings
•   2 YMCA national championship qualifiers
•   1 High Point award winner at the 2012 North Carolina State     Championships
•   1 athlete invited to compete on the 2013 North Carolina long course zone team
•   5 athletes invited to attend North Carolina Swimming's zone select camp
•   Coached the 2013 and 2014 short course girls' teams to YMCA regional championships
•   Coached the 2014 short course age group team to a ninth place finish at state championships out of over fifty teams (highest rank in GCY history)
•   Assistant coach of North Carolina's 2014 zone team at San Antonio, Texas zone championships
•   Assistant coach at the 2014 zone select camp
•   Dozens of 14 & under state championship qualifiers
•   Dozens of age group sectional qualifiers

 

Coach Connor has a proven record of success with swimmers of different ages and skills.  He places high expectations on himself and his assistant coaches to provide quality instruction to both novice and experienced swimmers at every practice.  Coach Connor is a terrific motivator and is respected by swimmers and parents alike.
