Excellence Award finalists are nominated by community members and their peers and are selected by an independent panel of nonprofit leaders. This year, MNN received a record 209 Nonprofit Excellence Award nominations. Finalists will be recognized and winners will be announced at the Nonprofit Awareness Day celebration at the State House on June 9, presented by MNN and Citizens Bank.

MNN Members: Nominations Needed for MNN Board of Directors
If you, or someone you know, is a dynamic and engaged member of the nonprofit community, we encourage you to submit a nomination for the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network's Board of Directors. We are currently seeking nominations to represent the following regions:
- Berkshires
- Cape Cod and Islands
- Central MA
Each year, MNN's nonprofit members elect new board members to represent the sector as part of the Annual Meeting, which will be held during Nonprofit Awareness Day.

Reviewing the State of the Sector
The Nonprofit Finance Fund's 2014 State of the Sector survey elicited more than 5,000 responses from nonprofit leaders across the country. This annual survey culls information on a range of topics related to and impacting nonprofits, and sheds light on where nonprofits stand in terms of programs, financial health, and management strategies while interpreting the challenges facing the nonprofit sector as a whole. Unemployment Insurance Rate Frozen
On April 15, Governor Patrick signed an Unemployment Insurance rate freeze for 2014. This freeze eliminates the $500 million UI tax increase on employers that took effect in the beginning of the year. AIM has a great overview of what this means for your organization.
Debate Begins On House Budget
