Fundraiser Update: Keep Jam Sessions Rockin'

Only 7 Days Left to Raise $6,416
We are on a mission to change lives of individuals with special needs in San Diego through our Jam Session program. Donate by August 1st and win cool prizes (perhaps a Jam Session named after you, be a VIP guest at a Jam Session, concert tickets and more)! We have already raised $5,584 (47%) towards reaching our goal.

In order to keep the Jam Sessions free, our goal is to raise another $6,416! This will allow Banding Together to increase the program from 24 Jam Sessions (12 sessions and 2 locations) to 32 Jam Sessions (16 in 2 locations). This will enable us to double our outreach in the San Diego community. Please consider supporting this important cause. A donation today of any amount will help us reach our goal!

Jam Sessions: A Moving and Beneficial Experience!

Introcuding Rock Star Clint Lyons
Clint, a 22-year old with autism (pictured on the right jamming on the tambourine with his mentor Darryn Kelly) says, "I like the Jam Sessions because I get to play different instruments. I love singing at the microphone. The people at the Jam Sessions are woooonnderful.", he says in an excited voice. When asked what he enjoys most about the program he replied, "I have made a lot of new friends."

"My son has been participating in the Jam Session program since it started two years ago. It has been the most moving and beneficial experience for him!," says his mother, Mary Lyons. "It has helped him with his communication skills through music which he loves very much. It has also helped him stay focused." She also says, "Jam Sessions have given him a place to develop friendships as many of our teens don't have a lot of friends."

Jam Session board certified music therapist, Julie Guy, says, "for Clint the Jam Sessions have been a motivating way for him to work on essential social skills such as: having a conversation, staying on topic, using appropriate voice volume and making eye contact. I can't think of a better and motivating experience that provides the opportunity to practice these skills in a normalized, structured group using a rock-band format. Because who doesn't want to be in a band?"
