From the Editor: Our apologies to 'AOL' Internet Provider users. We have replied to your emails, but AOL is blocking you from receiving them for some reason? FROM: Jack, I really found the Billion Dollar Rehab article quite interesting. The government does such a good job over regulating so much of our lives, but where we need regulation, they walk as though they are on eggs. The timing of this article is unbelievable also. About four weeks ago, I found out that the home in my neighborhood is being turned into a sober house. AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THAT INDUSTRY IS UNREGULATED! Can you imagine putting a sober home in a single family home community, and have no control over it? Even Homeowner Covenants can't stop any of this from becoming ... transient central. Reply: We are pleased that our state representative Bill Hager recently sponsored legislation passed by both houses to regulate sober home operations. However, since many aspects of sober homes are protected by the Federal government, to make a difference, concerned citizens must also contact their U.S. Congress representative(s) in this matter.
