From Yvonne: Re: April 7th CRA Singer Island Community Meeting: Thanks. I did see the outline, but was hoping for more info on the Coast Construction Line. Stay well, and thanks for the great job you do. Reply: Coastal Construction Control Line ordinance - From Riviera Beach Staff ... A code amendment is scheduled to go to the City Council on first reading on April 15, 2015. Second reading of this item and the CCCL item will be on the same Council meeting agenda to provide for approval at the same time; likely on May 6, 2015. From Barbara: The past week there have been numerous cars broken into on Singer Island. It is an island and I don't understand how thieves get on and off without being caught! Most incidents happen during the early morning hours. Why not post a police car/policeman at each end of the island for surveillance. Seems like it would deter these petty thieves. From Debra: Just this morning there were several break ins of cars last night! Our building does not have a guard. We are in paradise and shouldn't be afraid of being robbed. We need RB police to step up patrols on our island! We are taxpayers and deserve their presence! Reply: Yes, the SICA Safety and Security Committee agrees; surveillance cameras and police presence "deter" crimes, but does NOT stop crimes ... Comments from Mike Blasdell - The Riviera Beach Police Department Team (as well as Palm Beach Shores PD) have a very good conviction rate. They almost always catch their target(s). We can speed that process by helping them in any way we can as partners ...and also look out for each other around the entire Island to be sure this stops now. Lock the doors, keep an eye on the news, look out for your neighbors and please report anything suspicious or that doesn't seem right/normal ...using our 911 system.
