Hosanna E-Update

January 19, 2016
We are called, gathered and sent to be a people living, loving
and serving as Jesus did so that all may know Him.
From Pastor Linda

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord."
~Colossians 3.23

Dear Friends:

It's here again- Super Bowl 50.....oops, I mean Soup-er Bowl 2!

This past weekend I spent part of my days watching the NFL playoffs. I don't usually spend much time watching football in the year, but when the playoffs take place, I will watch the games. The competition and rivalries are fierce. The fans are fanatical! Luck sometimes plays a role in the outcome. But usually a team wins because of their focus, commitment and strength on the field of play.

The same can be said for our walk of faith. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul frequently used athletic competition as a metaphor for the challenges of a Christian life. We too are called to live a life of focus and commitment and strength. How's your game going?

At Hosanna we are preparing for the 2nd Annual Soup-er Bowl Party. This is a time for our community to come together, to open our doors and invite neighbors, family and friends and have some fun while raising money to support our Worship and Music ministry and Feed My Starving Children- both worthy causes!

Your admission ticket buys Food and Fun and Fellowship: Inflatables, BINGO, a Photo Booth and MORE!! Once again there will be a Silent Auction plus the ever-popular Mega Raffle ...this year featuring 3 prizes: Toshiba 55" LED TV, Sharp 50" HD TV, and a Fitbit Charge HR! Pre-sale admission tickets and Mega Raffle tickets are available NOW! You are not going to want to miss this!!

I tried to remember last year's Super Bowl XLIX winner. I couldn't even remember the teams who played! But I do remember who the BIG winner of the Mega Raffle big screen TV was last year at the Soup-er Bowl. Do you???

See you in church~   Pastor Linda

Christopher's Crusade Fundraiser
Christopher, son of Melissa & Ryan Schlemmer from our Hosanna family is an amazing little boy with PMM2 Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation. Nearly every body system is affected by this genetic condition. Christopher attends weekly therapy sessions of physical, occupational, and speech therapy as repetition is extremely important for him to strengthen his weak muscles and learn how to do many things. He is heading to California in April for intensive therapy; 4 hours of therapy per day for 4 weeks straight. The costs of this trip are enormous as insurance does not cover all of the therapy and mounting travel costs. Christopher will also be bringing Super Hero Capes to other little heroes at the therapy center! Christopher's fundraising site is below. Please share and give if you feel compelled! Our family is extremely grateful for all of your constant love and support.

For each donation we will make another cape
to give to a child in your honor.

Couples Retreat
Seasons of Marriage
February 19-20, 2016

Spring, summer, winter, fall. Marriages are perpetually in a state of transition, continually moving from one season to another - perhaps not annually, as in nature, but just as certainly and consistently. Each season holds the potential for emotional health and happiness, and each one has its challenges.
This retreat will focus on helping  you and your partner identify which season your marriage is in, and show you how to enhance your marriage in all four seasons.

Register on a Yellow Page and place in offering basket or click HERE to register online.  Deadline to register is February 7th.
