President's Message:
Happy New Year!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Monica Solko, Deputy City Secretary, North Richland Hills, and Alicia Richardson, City Secretary, for organizing our fabulous holiday party in Lewisville. They worked so hard on putting this great event together and I know everyone had a fabulous time. We would also like to thank Julie Heinze, City Secretary, Lewisville, for hosting our event.

Our members raised $1,411 for the Alyce Deering Scholarship Fund. That is AMAZING! Thank you to everyone who participated in our silent auction and raffle.

Our members were also so generous in donating birthday packages, office supplies, and over $500 in monetary donations to The Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County. I am so proud that our members were able to provide support to such an incredible organization.

| Membership Drive |
Greetings!
If you paid your dues before December 31, 2015, your name will be placed in a drawing to have your 2017 membership dues paid. The drawing will take place at the February NTMCA Chapter meeting held in Flower Mound.
In addition, I am personally offering the following for the 2016 Membership Drive:
1. For each meeting attended from December 2015 through August 2016, each attendee, who has already paid their 2016 membership dues, will have their name put in a drawing for a pair of Dallas Cowboy tickets for the 2016 fall football season, to be drawn at the end of the August 2016 NTMCA Chapter meeting. If the Chapter member brings a new clerk with them to the Chapter meeting, that same Chapter member will receive an additional 5 drawing chances for their invitation, and their invitee will receive 1 drawing chance. If the newly-invited clerk joins the NTMCA Chapter, they - and the Chapter member who invited them - will each receive an additional 5 drawing chances at the next Chapter meeting.
2. In addition to the Cowboy tickets, a $300 gift prize will be awarded to the ticket winner in the form of gift cards for golf, sporting events, dining, and merchandise.
So, a prize package of nearly $500 will be awarded to someone at the end of the August 2016 meeting!

Historical and Interesting Tid-Bits - Bartonville
|
Bartonville is located eight miles south of Denton in south central Denton County, and was originally part of the Chinn's Chapel settlement, established in 1853 by Elisha Chinn. Chinn's Chapel eventually became three small communities: Shiloh, Waketon, and Bartonville.
Bartonville was settled in 1878 and named for T. Bent Barton. In 1886 a local post office was established. By 1890 Bartonville had twenty-five residents, a general store, a gristmill, and a cotton gin, all owned by the Barton family.
Bartonville's population rose to an estimated at 100 in 1896, and the town had three general stores. Bartonville's post office discontinued in 1905. Population in Bartonville reached 380 by 1966.
In 1960, with cities such as Irving looking to expand northward, local residents feared annexation, and Bartonville incorporated for the first time. The town then included Double Oak and Copper Canyon, as well as present-day Bartonville. Once the fear of annexation subsided a few years later, Bartonville citizens voted for disincorporation.
The present town of Bartonville, which encompasses 6.8 square miles, was incorporated in 1973. The town has continued to grow as part of the general development of the area north of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Bartonville is adjacent to the master-planned Lantana residential development, which is currently not incorporated.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, apply and let TMCA pay for your TMCCP seminar or your travel/lodging expenses for a TMCCP seminar this up coming year!
Please apply no later than 10 business days prior to the desired seminar.

In order to be able to provide food for all that attend our monthly meetings, we need to know who will be attending, so please let us know your intentions by the RSVP date. Deadlines are included in the invitation, and on the meeting webpage. The best way to take care of this is to plan to attend all of the meetings and RSVP when you receive the invite! The 2016 Professional Seminar will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau. More information about the day will be posted soon!

Calendar Wheels
|
 Those who attended the Holiday luncheon received a calendar wheel as their gift for their participation and attendance. These wheels are an excellent tool for counting deadlines with ease and precision. They are great for calendaring events/tasks associated with elections, requests for public information, budget, public hearings, legal notices, etc.
The calendar wheels will be available for $5.00 at the Election Law Seminar. A table will be set up next to the registration table and the wheels will be sold during breaks. The table will be managed by Monica Solko. Monies raised from the sale of the calendar wheels will benefit the Alyce Deering Scholarship Fund. If you will be attending the Election Law Seminar please promote and spread the word on the calendars. The wheels come in two colors-purple and green (shown above).
