Newly Added Session:
Thinking Outside the Box
Monday, 1/25
12:30 PM
Many PAWS teams visit with elders, several of whom are in various stages of dementia.  Our Thinking Outside the Box program trains therapy teams to better understand dementia and Alzheimer's, recognize displaying behaviors, while also guiding teams on how to provide the best visit possible to someone following this path. In better understanding why folks are behaving in a particular manner, teams can provide a more personalized visit that supports the elder.  Teams are also able to assist site staff in accomplishing some of the tasks/goals that may become difficult with a person suffering with dementia.

Making Connections with PAWS

Zoom Room Training, November 2015

PAWS for People and the Zoom Room are building a great relationship.

Zoom Room, owned by PAWS member Marti McKinley and her daughter, is located in Philadelphia and is a training center for dogs. One of their dog training classes focuses on  getting dogs ready for therapy work. Once ready, the teams need Pet-Assisted Therapy training and that's where PAWS comes in!

PAWS ran our first Zoom Room group training in November and now have 5 new PAWS members, ready to visit in our newest site additions in Philadelphia, PA.

Thanks to Marti for the great idea for this partnership! PAWS and Zoom Room, a winning combination.
