FACULTY SPOTLIGHT
Albert Titus, PhD | Chair of Department of Biomedical Engineering  
 
Albert H. Titus is professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. Before becoming BME Chair, he was a professor in Electrical Engineering at UB, and prior to that, he was an assistant professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University at Buffalo in 1989 and 1991, respectively. 

His research interests include bioinstrumentation, integrated smart sensing systems, artificial vision,  neural networks, and optoelectronics. 

Titus has partnered with various companies including Sentient Science, the leading provider of prognostic technology and services, to create wearable technology with military and health care applications. This work is funded by a $150,000 Small Business Technology Transfer program grant.

CMI GIVES STUDENTS REAL WORLD INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
The Career Experience Program, sponsored by the CMI and UB Career Services , will provide UB students with real-world working experience at 19 local advanced manufacturing companies in 21 positions for the Spring Semester. Intern salaries are fully supported by the CMI. 

Since its inception, nearly 30 local companies have participated in the advanced manufacturing Career Experience Program with several companies accepting paid interns and 25% resulting in direct hires.
