Dear Friends,
It's hard to believe another year has come and gone! But with 2016 now upon us, it is a wonderful opportunity to take stock in what's been accomplished at the BCH Foundation over the past twelve months.
Reflection is a healthy thing to do at any time. It gives us the chance to think about what we do and what activities make us feel content. However, reflection is not just looking back, it is also an exercise in looking inward and gaining insight from the lessons learned in the past and applying them to what is ahead.
Most important, it allows us to focus on the people who have blessed us the most.....and also to express our gratitude. While naming specific names is impractical, three general categories come to mind:
Donors -
Once again in 2015, the BCH Foundation benefitted from the generosity of many individuals, families and companies. We thank you!
Volunteers -
Starting with our Board of Directors, many individuals provided us with their time and talents to make sure our activities measured up and the Foundation functioned properly. We are grateful!!
Employees -
Not only do BCHHC employees do their jobs with skill and compassion, they also support the efforts of the Foundation at almost every juncture. (If you have doubts, take a look at the baskets/items donated to "Catch the Glow" this year.) You are appreciated!
No matter what category or categories you fit in, thank you for being a "contributor" and an important partner in what we do. May 2016 be the best year ever for all of us!

On December 4, 2015, the BCH Foundation staged its fourteenth annual "Catch the Glow" auction and gala at Classic's Restaurant. Two hundred forty guests enjoyed an evening of fun, food, and fundraising. Many thanks to the members of the Planning Committee; Bev Acton and her staff; our auctioneer, Dennis Henrichs; Blossom Khardt for the wonderful floral arrangements and, of course, our sponsors; auction donors; and auction bidders. We appreciated the wonderful support!

Kiwanis Club Donation will "help kids"
Kiwanis Club International celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2015. For a service organization with an incredible history of "helping kids," what could be a more fitting way to celebrate this milestone than by making a special donation to hospital departments that serve numerous local children and families.
This past year, the local noon Kiwanis Club committed $5,000 to purchase new therapy play equipment for the Rehabilitation Department at BCHHC. This equipment will assist the staff in the treatment of a growing caseload of pediatric therapy patients. In 2011-2012, the program began with 4-6 pediatric visits per week. Currently, they are scheduling approximately 60-80 pediatric visits per week.
As part of the hospital's expansion plans, the Rehab Department will also be moving into additional space currently occupied by the Health Information Management Office. Their current treatment space consists of 2 rooms and a hallway next to our therapy gym. The new space will include a dedicated gym and several rooms that will not require constant moving of pediatric equipment and rearranging of treatment areas. It will also provide privacy and a true "kids" environment, allowing free space to run and move without the danger of interfering with adult treatment in other areas.
The BCH Foundation and BCHHC are very grateful for all the support provided by our local Kiwanis Club. In addition to this special anniversary donation, the Club also annually supports tours of the hospital for area First Graders.

Centurian Forever Endowment
The
Centurian Forever Endowment, a new legacy giving program launched earlier in 2015, continues to grow. Gifts have recently been received from Kathleen Epp, Dr. Derek and Amy Weichel, Dr. Donald and Diane Weldon, and Ruth Dalke.
The focus of the
Centurian Forever Endowment
is to create gifts that keep on giving. Individuals and couples are encouraged to make arrangements for future gifts to the Foundation of $2,500 or more. These gifts, once received, are placed into a permanent endowment with annual earnings used to support the Foundation. A $2,500 gift is expected to generate $100 of annual income in perpetuity making the donor(s) a
Centurian Forever.
Giving options include:
- Outright gift of cash or securities
- Bequest contained in a will or trust
- Beneficiary opportunities in a life insurance policy or retirement plan (IRA or 401k)
In addition to the Centurian Forever Endowment, other endowments can be created to support the hospital and local healthcare. For more information, please contact Sam Rennick at the BCH Foundation Office.
