I've found myself flying by the seat of my pants recently...moving quickly from deadline to deadline, meeting to meeting, class to class... my mind a flurry of thoughts and endless to-do lists. Focusing more on getting from point A to B than consciously paying attention to the path along the way. This is the epitome of a yogi, right!? Geez!!! And, I know just admitting this that people are going to flock to my classes... Ha!
Yes, I know, I have over committed myself a bit to too many projects (something I am aware of and working on). But, here we are two weeks into the New Year and I know that I can't (nor want to) keep moving so quickly. For me, moving quickly means I'm not paying attention. It reduces my level of mindfulness and thoughtfulness. I know that I need space and time to make conscious and well thought out decisions and actions... and for me to be my best Self.
It comes as no surprise to me then, that today the Universe interceded. It made sure that a HUGE coincidence happened. A moment so kismet that I had to pause, shift my awareness, and awaken from the fogged state from which I've been moving. It's like the Universe was saying.... "Kristi, HELLO!!?! Do I have to move mountains before you start paying attention!!??"
Okay, I get it. And, I'm thankful that it wasn't some terrible life threatening diagnosis or accident that shifted my attention. It was just running into someone whom I hadn't seen for close to 10 years. Running into them only because we were in the same place at the same time. So, is it coincidence or something more!? My yoga practice has taught me that it's something more.
So...thanks, Universe for the reminder! Not only to pay attention, but that there is something much wiser and greater that exists to steer me back on my path when I'm venturing astray!
Namaste,
Kristi
