Winter is a prime time for animal damage.  It is a good idea to walk your yard once a week and inspect plants for any damage to the trunk or branches.  Rabbits, mice and voles will strip bark off the base of plants while deer will rip and tear branches higher up. As we get snow, keep in mind that rabbits can sit on top of the snow so be sure to protect above the snow line.  We carry many types of animal repellents including Plantskydd, which is very effective and long lasting.  Wrapping the trunk can also be helpful against rodent damage and has the added benefit of protecting thin-barked trees from frost crack and sun scald.
