January 2016                                                                                                                                        Issue #113
Happy New Year Neighbor,

I hope each and every one of you had a great holiday. This holiday season was extra special.  We were able to help many families, as we do each year, but what was really amazing was how quickly all the families were adopted.  The response from the community was so enthusiastic and joyfully overwhelming.  Read below to see just a sampling of the generosity from our wonderful Neighbors.

As we begin our 24th year serving the South Florida community, we wanted to thank each of you for your support each and every day.  Without you we can't help the hundreds of families each year during our Adopt A Family Program and the hundreds more through our many partnerships and campaigns.

We look forward to making this year even more wonderful than the last and with you at our side that will definitely come true.

And if you missed it, please view our Holiday Special and see first hand how together we make this community stronger.

Thank you, from all of us at Neighbors 4 Neighbors

What a fantastic time it was for the Adopt A Family program! The generosity of the community was felt far and wide. Here's just some of the wonderful photos and testimonials from our families and those who adopted them this past holiday season.

Good morning Katy,
Thank you and Neighbors4neighbors for giving us the opportunity to participate in bringing some joy and blessings to the Little family during the Holiday season.

It was a pleasure meeting with them. I look forward to participating again next year. Now that I know how the program works, I can prepare with ample time.
Thank you again,
Aurora and Wes

"My husband and I adopted a local family for the holidays, a grandmother helping/raising her 5 grandchildren. It was such a wonderful experience visiting with them in their home and watching them opening gifts. I feel that we were as excited as they were, and we look forward to doing it annually. Below are a couple of pictures of our time together." - Karen and Steven Gissi n

The agencies we work with are the true hero's helping these families each day, but they know how to make us feel like heros!

"Good Morning, I adopted a family this year for the first time. I just wanted to email you and let you know I delivered gifts and holiday cheer yesterday to the family I adopted. What a humbling and amazing experience!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this program. My husband and I truly enjoyed putting together all the gifts and goodies for our family.

The smiles on their faces were simply priceless. They were an amazing family and I am touched that I was able to help them during the holiday season. I may have helped them with monetary gifts but they gave me the gift of love, compassion and gratitude that no amount of money can buy.

This truly is what the holiday season is about and the joy I feel in my heart is overflowing. Once again thank you! Happy Holidays, Krista Shaw"

The Milian Family sent an amazing video of their adoption. Looks like no detail was spared.

Thank you South Florida!

We are also very grateful for the support of the team at CBS 4.  With them at our side the program ran smoother than ever before.  All the families were all adopted well before Christmas and that was a dream come true.

We have the Coolest Partners!

We'd like to thank the Intercontinental Miami, Florida Advocates and our Host Rick Folbum for partnering to support us!  The month long Miami On Ice event was a wonderful fundraiser for us that started with a special party in Dec. 12th that was coolest event ever!  For the first time in several years the Intercontinental Miami installed an outdoor ice rink right on the bay.  We were honored when they offered to give us a portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales and even offered to host this special even on Dec. 12th.  Our fantastic volunteers came out to help us sell some amazing ornaments donated to us by the very generous owners of Barker Animation, Herb and Gloria Baker. We can't thank them enough for these gifts.

Everyone had a blast, even Santa, the sneaky photo bomber, had a wonderful time. We'd also like to thank Dee and Hank Haegele, who coordinated a festive choir to sing as everyone skated.  They really help fill the air with holiday cheer.
Some of families from our Adopt A Family program were invited to attend too.  Everyone really had a wonderful time.

We hope you got a chance to glide across the ice and we can't thank everyone enough for making this the best holiday season yet.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is a non-profit organization 501 (c) 3 originally created by CBS4 in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. As South Florida recovered, CBS4 made a commitment to make Neighbors an integral part of its community service program.  Using the power of television to reach people who want to help and by forging relationships with important community and business leaders, Neighbors has evolved into a valuable resource for individuals and families in our community facing critical needs.
