Hosanna E-Update

January 5, 2016
We are call, gathered and sent to be a people living, loving
and serving as Jesus did so that all may know Him.
From Pastor Linda

"Who do you say that I am?"
From Matthew 16, Mark 8, Luke 9

Dear Church:

In all three of the synoptic (or similar) gospel stories Jesus asks his followers: "Who do you say that I am?" It is Peter, not really understanding the question or even his answer, who jumps in and answers, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God." In John's gospel story Jesus doesn't ask, instead he makes defining statements about who he is, recording a collection of self-revealing statements known as the "I am" sayings. These statements, rich in imagery and steeped in historical meaning, provide powerful insights into the heart of God and God's desire to know and be known. Jesus says,
I AM: the light of the world, the gate, the good shepherd, the resurrection and the life, the way and the truth and the life, the vine, the bread of life. These texts from John's gospel will be guiding us on Sunday mornings as we enter the Season of Epiphany, taking a step away from the manger to discover who Jesus is and consider their implications for our lives as people who live and love and serve.

This would be an ideal time for you to invite a neighbor or friend to journey in faith with you. I pray that your heart and mind might be open to hearing anew what the living Word of God might be saying to you in these powerful statements.

Together in ChristPastor Linda

Countdown to Hosanna's FMSC MobilePack
on April 1 & 2, 2016 = 86 Days!!
God has blessed Hosanna richly. You can   help reflect that love by supporting this mission to enrich the lives of so many   children by providing needed nutrition in order for them to thrive. We need to raise $30,000   to cover cost of the food and another $5,000  for building maintenance following the MobilePack. Hundreds of volunteers will be needed on
April 1 & 2 to help pack the food. Online registration for packing the food will be available around mid-February.

Ways YOU Can Help
  1. Take home a Change-4-Change glass jar and continue to fill it with loose change and/or currency and bring it to worship on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights  at connect360.
  2. Write a check to "Hosanna" (write "FMSC" on memo line).
  3. Tell your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. about this MobilePack and ask them to sign up for one or more of the time slots or even organize a team to sign up.  In mid-February we should have a link for volunteers to sign up online for a packing time that best works for them.

(includes overnight stay at Hilton Garden Inn, and breakfast & lunch)
Spring, summer, winter, fall. Marriages are perpetually in a state of transition, continually moving from one season to another - perhaps not annually, as in nature, but just as certainly and consistently. Each season holds the potential for emotional health and happiness, and each one has its challenges.
This retreat will focus on helping  you and your partner identify which season your marriage is in, and show you how to enhance your marriage in all four seasons.

Green Tip from Hosanna's
Green Earth Team
It takes longer  in cold weather for your car to reach its most fuel-efficient operating temperature. Combine trips to help keep the engine warm and save on gas.  For more fuel efficient winter driving tips see http://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MNPCA/bulletins/129af28
