Business, Labour & Community: Planning for Prosperity!

Calling all Hamilton employers: Tell us about your workforce development challenges!

business_ppl4.jpg Workforce Planning Hamilton is preparing a new workforce development strategy for Hamilton and we want to know how the employment and training community can prepare job seekers to meet your needs in the years ahead.

What are your challenges around recruitment, training and retention?  Please share your experiences with us.  In the weeks ahead we will be conducting telephone interviews with employers across all sectors and sizes.  Hearing your voice is vital to the success of our plan.

For more information, or to volunteer please contact Judy Travis, WPH, Executive Director at: [email protected] or call 905-521-5777.
Why Canada's fastest growing export should be its brain power

With its strong history in energy and resource development, Canada is well situated to convert its research into viable products and services on the international market. Widespread resource development in Canada has resulted in critical expertise across a variety of industries, but there is potential for increased commercialization of R&D.

In the Hamilton CMA employment in the professional, scientific and technical services industry has increased 34.5% from 2008-2013 (Labour Force Survey).

Speed mentoring helps newcomers to Canada

Immigrants have larger wage gaps and higher levels of unemployment in Canada than Canadian-born residents, and businesses are suffering because of it.

Study after study shows that immigrants bring increased levels of innovation and productivity to the Canadian companies that employ them.
