 Camp Discovery Highlights
We are wrapping up another successful year of Camp Discovery, with over 500 registrations in almost 50 camps.

Our kids peered through microscopes in Mad Scientists, exercised their creativity in our painting and cartooning camps, gained confidence and learned stage presence in Acting Out, Let's Act, and Broadway Bound, discovered how fun mathematics can be in Math Madness, learned about dinosaurs and endangered animals, improved their physical fitness with Tennis, Fun and Games, and Survivor VSU camps, and so much more!

We would like to thank all our wonderful instructors, our camp staff, our volunteers, and most importantly, the parents who chose to share their children with us this summer.

We look forward to an even bigger and better Camp Discovery next year!

Teacher Recertification

 ... the Common Core and much more

"The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade," according to CoreStandards.org.

There's been a lot of debate as to whether it's a good idea or not. No matter how you see The Common Core, if you are a teacher, there's a good chance that you will be implementing the program in your classroom.

self-paced

Recently added to the online self-paced courses for teacher re-certification is Understanding & Implementing Common Core Standards  ($199) (4 PLUs).

According to the Virtual Education Software, inc. PLU - PDU Syllabus, in this course you will learn a number of factors that contributed to the overall design of the Common Core Standards as well as practical pedagogical approaches that will support practitioners working toward deeper implementation.

Check out other online recertification courses related to the Common Core, including:

* Teaching Elementary Math Conceptually A New Paradigm  ($179) (3 PLUs)

* Reading Fundamentals #1 - An Introduction to Scientifically-based Research ($179) (3 PLUs)
