Giving Thanks

Before I get caught up in the whirlwind of the holidays, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who helped make Colorado Gives Day a huge success for YVSC!  With support from almost 90 donors and counting, your support not only benefits us financially but also emotionally.  You are telling us the work we do is important to our community.  And that encouragement goes a long way as we prepare to launch our new Energy Outreach and Food Waste initiatives in 2016.

If you didn't get a chance to give on Colorado Gives Day, it is not too late.  You can still donate through our website

Thank you and wishing you all the Happiest of Holidays and a Healthy and Joyous 2016.

Warm regards,

Sarah Jones, Executive Director

Green Holiday Guide
As we celebrate, decorate, give gifts and travel this holiday season, we all generate a lot of waste and increase our energy use. Between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, the volume of household waste increases 25%, and 33% more food is thrown away during the holidays!

We have put together a guide to help you green your holidays this year. There are tips on everything from decorating and gift buying to recycling your holiday lights and Christmas tree. To learn more, view our Green Holiday tips here  http://www.yvsc.org/green-your-holiday/

Colorado Gives Day
We are overwhelmed by the support we received on Colorado Gives Day this year from nearly 90 individual donors. The overall Yampa Valley results for the day totaled $463,879 to local nonprofits. In the small nonprofit category, YVSC earned prizes for the number of donors we had and the amount we raised that day - over $10,500!

Thanks to all who helped us maximize this amazing day of giving!
