Diversity & Excellence Grants-Request for Proposals
Diversity & Excellence Grants fund innovative projects that promote inclusive excellence and diversity throughout the University of Colorado System. Grants of up to $3,000 each will be awarded to proposals that creatively advance the principles of diversity and inclusion in substantive ways. Grant proposals
may be submitted by CU faculty or staff, as individuals or as teams, but at least one of the participants is required to have faculty or staff status (students may be included on the team). Proposal Deadline: Friday, October 31, 2014

Our organization brings together students and faculty members who share a passion for the study of biology. We are affiliated with the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, but open to all students on campus and to the broader community interested in biology and environmental issues. The purpose of the club is to foster interactions among students, faculty, and the broader environmental and biological communities. Exploring Environmental Education: Weekly Discussion and Training Series The CU Environmental Center is offering a 6-hour training program for CU students to learn the principles of place-based environmental education (EE). The 6-week series will meet once a week Oct. 6 - Nov. 10 on Mondays 12 - 1 p.m. For more information, come to the "Exploring Environmental Education Careers" workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 5 - 6:30 p.m. in Koelbel 255. Masters and Doctoral Programs in Education
Are you an Arts and Sciences student interested in getting your master's or PhD in Education? The School of Education at CU-Boulder has great Education programs, and the PhD Education programs are highly ranked and highly competitive. They fully fund every PhD student they admit for four years. Prospective students can apply to a PhD program without a master's degree; this year they admitted several students into a PhD program who have only completed a bachelor's degree. More Information School of the Environment and Sustainability Series Over the past two years, CU-Boulder has explored prospects for creating greater synergies and fostering collaboration among the many faculty and programs centered on themes in the environment and sustainability. With commitments from the campus administration, we are moving forward with the creation of a new school that will further advance interdisciplinary scholarship, education, and community engagement in the environment and sustainability. This fall we are launching our inaugural colloquium series, which will feature forward thinking and inspiring examples of projects that integrate the many dimensions of environmental challenges and solutions. The School of the Environment and Sustainability Colloquium Series will provide the CU and Boulder community with provocative and insightful conversations that provide compelling illustrations of innovative work in the environment and sustainability taking place in Boulder and elsewhere. The colloquium series will be held most Wednesdays this fall semester from 3-4:30 pm in the Old Main Chapel. Light refreshments will be served from 3-3:30 pm, followed by the featured lecture and Q&A from 3:30-4:30 pm. Wildlands Studies Information Session October 2 4:00pm Ketchum 234 The posting of this announcement is purely for information purposes and does not constitute an endorsement of the program by ENVS or CU Boulder. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their advisors prior to signing up for any courses offered through institutions other than CU to ensure that they will receive academic credit upon completion. Wildlands Studies field projects provide students with the opportunity to join backcountry study teams as working field associates, studying environmental impact assessment, environmental policy, geologic, climatic and topographic factors that support various habitats, and the relationships between environments and culture. Most participants are undergraduates who join us on site from all over North America and Canada. Each program grants 4-12 units of upper division semester credit that may transfer to the University of Colorado. Project teams consist of 8-16 participants working with a course instructor who provides onsite instruction and directs all field study activities. This season students can choose among eighteen wildlife, wildland and cultural ecology field studies searching for solutions to environmental and cultural challenges. Field studies take place in: Yellowstone, Big Sur (California), Banff (Canada), California Channel Islands, Vancouver Island, Fiji, Belize, South Africa, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Thailand, Nepal, Indian Himalaya, Costa Rica, Panama, Australia, and New Zealand.
