Monadnock Buy Local Member Update
April 2014

To keep you updated on what's happening behind the scenes at Monadnock Buy Local, here's the first of many updates from your Board of Directors.

Jen Risley, our Board President, will serve on a panel discussion on social media at the American Independent Business Alliance's (AMIBA) National Go Local, Grow Local Conference in May.  She'll join Becky McCray from Small Biz Survival and share tips on how to multiply our online reach.  There's still time to register for this conference in Minneapolis.  Featured speakers include Michael Shuman, Matt Cunningham and Dan McCabe.

We also managed this year's Monadnock Green Business of the Year Award -- recruiting nominees, organizing the judges and promoting the award ceremony.  Please join us on Saturday, April 26, 12:15 pm (next to the Monadnock Food Co-op) to recognize all the nominees -- including three Monadnock Buy Local Members: the Amazing Flower Farm, Clark-Mortenson Insurance and Monadnock Food Co-op. The Mayor of Keene will announce this year's winner.

Basic Principles of Respectful Workplaces

Workshop at the Hannah Grimes Center

Wednesday, April 30, Noon - 1:30 pm, Free (but registration required)

As a business owner, you must make sure that your employees maintain constructive working relationships with you, their co-workers, and the people you serve. In other words, they must play well together. If they don't, it generally becomes a HUGE headache for you, and certainly damages the morale & the culture of your business. This workshop will provide some basic tools that will help you create the kind of environment you need. You will participate in a very interactive session with real-life examples and solutions you can execute.Register for this workshop with Paula Mathews, HR Compliance.
Rack It Up:
A Community-Based Bicycle Rack Program

Your customers need more parking -
bicycle parking.

Keene bicycle traffic is increasing. Bike paths are expanding. Bicycle lanes are increasingly becoming part of Keene's streetscape. Bicycling is not just for recreation anymore. It is a legitimate form of transportation and bicyclists often include your customers and your employees. Through a community grant award from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the Monadnock Region Transportation Management Association (MRTMA) seeks business partners and others to make bicycling more safe, convenient and welcoming in Keene.

This is your chance to be part of positive change by participating in a cost share program that installs bicycle racks throughout the City or recommending a business, school, non-profit or local agency to our Program. Take advantage of MRTMA 50% off bike rack discount today!  View the Rack It Up! Flyer and Order Form.
