Minnesota Legislators are requiring Minnesota's public utilities to generate or procure 1.5% of their retail electricity sales from solar energy by 2020. Even more ambitious than the 2020 goal, is the requirement that five megawatt (MW) gardens be constructed and operational by the end of 2016 to meet the deadline for tax credits.

When a national solar firm asked Landform to provide development management, engineering and surveying services to develop 15 five MW Community Solar Gardens across Minnesota in 2016, our team was ready to go.

In the late summer and fall of 2015 Landform worked with local municipalities, the MPCA, utility companies, and other agencies to set our client up for success in local communities. But we didn't stop there. New regulations and the short timeframe for completion means that state goals and regulatory agency priorities haven't necessarily been aligned. Using our network to advocate for greater transparency in regulation and approvals, we are helping ensure that regulation at all levels makes sense for solar development. Our team is helping our client navigate the complex regulatory environment to build solid development framework that will facilitate approvals and construction in a timely manner.
