DAAD Deadline Reminder: Applications for Germany Today Accepted by March 2

DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions, and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, and colleagues from the education policy field and politics to join the �Germany Today� Information Tour 2014.

This year's theme will be: Applied Science in Germany � Institutions of Higher Education, Research Institutes, and their Internationalization Strategies.

The tour is scheduled to take place June 16 through June 21, 2014 (Bonn/Cologne, Trier, Munich).

Topics of focus will include:
Introduction to Germany�s (applied) research landscape
Details about certain areas of applied research and funding mechanisms
Details about the consortium of seven major, research-intensive universities of applied science (UAS 7)
Institutional internationalization strategies
Details about select BA and MA programs at recognized universities of applied science
Accreditation of courses taken abroad in BA/MA programs
PhD programs/training, especially in relation to applied science, and transatlantic mobility

The program will be in English. Program-related costs in Germany (accommodation, domestic travel, most meals) will be covered by DAAD.
Intercontinental travel is at the participant�s expense. Applicants must have U.S./Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, a special interest in Germany and transatlantic co-operation, and a relevant professional position.

Applicants should not have recently participated in another information trip to Germany.

Travel and Lodging Grants for the Georg Arnhold International Summer School

The Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research is pleased to announce its first annual Georg Arnhold International Summer School on �Education for Sustainable Peace.� It will explore the theme of "Teaching and Learning about the Past in the Aftermath of (Civil) War and Mass Violence: The Challenges and Promises of History Education in Divided and Post-War Societies" and will take place in Braunschweig from July 24 to 29, 2014. The working language of the Summer School will be English. No registration fees apply.

Accommodation and meals will be provided for all participants and economy class travel expenses will be reimbursed.
