Easter greetings and blessings!  It was such a joy to see so many of you at The Bishop's 21st Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner on April 5.  And thanks to the efforts of so many devoted friends of life, like yourself, the event raised record funds, critically needed to continue and expand our life-saving mission.  (Check out photos of the night here.)

As we welcome May flowers, we have many opportunities to remember and celebrate the beauty of life.  Not only is May Mary's month, it is when we celebrate all the mothers in our life on May 11.  You can remember the special mothers in your life with a Mother's Day e-Card benefiting the gift of life available here.

And as we reflect on the beauty of motherhood, we remember and pray for those who lost their motherhood to abortion and whose unborn children who now live in the Lord.  On May 18, we invite you to gather with us to honor these precious souls at the annual Cemetery of Innocents Graveside Memorial, at one of the world's largest mass graves of aborted children here in Dallas at Calvary Hill Cemetery.  And on May 31, we will offer our inaugural Project Joseph Retreat designed specifically to help men who have lost their fatherhood to abortion.  Please help spread the word about this new, and much needed, outreach (click here for announcement and here for the flyer).

I hope to also see you all on May 10 at our next Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Meeting at St. Mark in PlanoPlease note: the room location has changed to McGivney Hall in the St. Mark Parish Center at the N.W. corner of Alma and 15th St.  (Please remember to return the Bishop's Dinner yard signs from your parish at this meeting.)

Please also mark your calendar for the following additional events in May:

And in June, I hope you can join us for the CPLC Volunteer Appreciation Picnic and Swim Party on June 14 at the home of Bill and Carol Orender.  All CPLC volunteers, staff, and their families are invited to enjoy this day of fun, food and fellowship, plus Baby Bank prize winners will be announced!  RSVP by June 7.

Finally, our annual Youth For Life Pro-Life Boot Camp is fast-approaching.  We will again be hosting two sessions at the University of Dallas, on June 27-29 and July 25-29.  Early registration (and reduced prices) end June 9.  This is a great opportunity for high school youth to learn the "ins and outs" of being a life advocate and have fun in the process!  More information is available here, and registration is coming soon at prolifedallas.org/bootcamp.  (Adult chaperones and junior staff needed.)

In closing, our Blessed Mother's special feast day on May 13 -- the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima -- brings a special historic reminder.  On this day in 1917 Our Lady first appeared to Lucia dos Santos, age 10, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto, ages 9 and 7.  The apparitions ended on October 13 when 70,000 people witnessed the great "miracle of the sun," as it danced in the heavens and made sudden, incredible movements outside all cosmic laws.  During her apparitions Our Lady asked for the consecration of Russia on the First Saturdays.  She said that if her requests were heeded, Russia would be converted and there would be peace.  Perhaps at this time with the current events we should once again heed Our Lady's requests, and resubmit ourselves to the devotion to her Immaculate Heart.

Thanks for all you do for Life, and I look forward to seeing you all on May 10!

God bless,

David
