Signs of Celebrations...
It has been a joyous, albeit short, week here at Mill Falls. The children's excitement is contagious and even the staff had some fun with an 'Incognito Elf' gift exchange this week.

Many thanks for all the treats families and friends sent in this week. As a Staff we feel the warm embrace of your appreciation and we send that right back to you and your family this holiday season and beyond!

In recognition of the children's hard work this year, and in the spirit of the season, there have been a number of fun projects the teachers have snuck in around our Montessori work cycles this week (some are shown below).

Please note, we have lots cooking as soon as we return to school on the 4th of January, much of which is highlighted in the sections below. The start of the 2016 Lottery, new after school programs, the Upper El Dance...just to name a few!

If you do or see something interesting over the vacation, take some pictures for us! Let us know what fun you're up to while you're away! Send pictures and a brief explanation to us at  [email protected] .

Wishing our wonderful extended Mill Falls Community a safe and relaxing vacation filled with great family and friend time, fantastic books and fun math facts, and most of all laughter and good health! See you in 2016!

As part of their study of Asia, our Upper Elementary students have been studying the Chinese New Year. One project includes the making of a Chinese Dragon, a common site during New Year celebrations, used to ward off evil spirits. The project will soon be hung in the library area.

In
the afternoons in her role as English Language Learner Coordinator, Ms. Kristin organized a Gingerbread making workshop as a fun followup work to the books she recently read with her English Language Learners. As they built their gingerbread houses, the children practiced following directions and following a progressive series of steps, naming all the parts of the building as they moved through the activity.

Earlier this week our Kinder kiddos watched The Polar Express clad in their PJs!
MFCS 2016 Enrollment Lottery
Beginning January 4th, our 2016 Lottery Enrollment Application will be available on-line (with paper applications available by request). Between then and mid-March we will hold several open houses for interested families.

For those of you planning to enroll siblings at Mill Falls in the 2016/17 School year, please be aware you MUST enroll them in the 2016 Lottery.

If you speak with anyone over break who would like to apply, please encourage them to send a note to:  [email protected]
so that they can be added to our 2016 Lottery Mailing List.

Thank you for helping us spread the word!
Thank you Ms. Jo & Welcome Ms. Colleen
Please join us in wishing our own Ms. Jo our very best. She will be stepping down from her staff position as she prepares to welcome her baby daughter who is due in early 2016. Jo has brought so much to our staff and to our Upper Elementary Program where she has served as an Assistant Teacher since 2013. It is hard to say goodbye, but we look forward to seeing her in her new role as mom! Thanks to the Upper El Teachers and Students for the great send off party for Ms. Jo today!

As we say goodbye to Jo, we ask that you also join us in welcoming our newest staffer, Colleen Costa, who will join Ms. Lauren in the Everglades Room as the new Assistant Teacher. Colleen comes to us most recently from Gossler Park School where she has served as a Title 1 Certified Instructor, providing supplemental instruction to her students' general education programming. Colleen has a BA in Elementary Education from Southern New Hampshire University where she graduated with honors in May 2013. Welcome aboard, Colleen!
