4 Branding, Marketing and Identity in Today's World
with Adnan Iftekhar
Tuesdays, Sept. 23- Oct. 7
7:00-9:00pm

Part 1: Orange is the New Brand OitnB gives us an immersive perspective on an experiment that turned into success overnight. Well, almost. We will talk brand, identity and the defining moments of prison and how this legendary Netflix series defied convention - and won.

Part 2: Branding Bad We continue our discussion of brand and identity by taking elements of this AMC TV series and analyze the obsession with fame and non-mediocrity in our society.

Part 3: Game of Brands Believe it or not, the Game of Thrones is now being taught as a college level course. As a Fantasy series turns into a TV series, we will talk about nerds, geeks and how it is now cool to be known as one of "them."

5 Save the Date

Mindset:

The Psychology of Success

with Carol Dweck, Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology, Stanford University

October 16, 2014

5:30 - 7:00pm
Free and open to the community
Location: Carrington Hall, Sequoia High School, 1201 Brewster Ave, Redwood City, CA 94062

Carol Dweck, a renowned Psychology professor at Stanford University and one of the world's leading researchers in the fields of motivation and achievement, has discovered a truly groundbreaking idea-the power of mindset. In this talk, Dweck will focus on why people succeed and how to foster success. She'll explain why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success, but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She will show that praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. And, with the right mindset, you can motivate anyone - employees, students, peers, children, and even yourself - to reach personal, educational, and professional goals.
