Worship this week - October 5th
This Sunday, Dr. Helsel's sermon is "Pressing on Towards the Goal" based on Philippians 3.4b-14. Dr. Helsel will be highlighting the discussions congregants have been having in New Beginnings group, inviting us to consider together what is the goal of our lives together in this church? Also, Kyei Atupem is kicking off our stewardship campaign with a brief vignette from his own history. Come hear why the very first pledge made to a church was so important.
Scotland Delights Baskets Auction News

Sunday is the deadline for donations to the auction. We have already received some great items but we could use a few more. Please consider contributing to the efforts by making a donations of goods or services and by joining us on the evening of October 18th at 6:00pm for the big event. All proceeds support the 2015 Mission Trip to the Philippines.

Examples of past and current donations include tickets, gift certificates, dinners, tours, products, use of vacation homes. Gift baskets make excellent donations and families and friends can all contribute something to it. Pick a theme and get creative! (Here are some theme ideas to get you started: "Chocolate Lovers Basket", "A Night at the Movies", "Tea/Coffee Lovers Basket", or pick a holiday theme.)

Contact Gail Hamel if you have any questions. Thanks for your support!

Stewardship Campaign

2015 Stewardship Pledge Cards will be arriving in the mail next week! You won't want to miss this special letter; it has original artwork from 8-year-old Caleb Helsel. The drawing on the letter is based on Caleb's interpretation of the letter's message, and it also represents how each of can make a contribution to this church-no matter our age or ability. Looks for yours in the mail!

Main Event Scheduled

October 24th at 7:00pm

A representative from Parmenter Home Care & Hospice will be joining us and discussing how Advance Care Planning is a process. It takes time. It requires an understanding of care options, intimate conversation, quiet reflection and thoughtful choices in seeking to improve the honoring of wishes for care at end-of-life through outreach and engagement. This written plan is known as Advance Care Directives - and is shared with loved ones and healthcare providers, choices for care are more likely to be honored, stress is reduced and, ultimately, health care is delivered more effectively.

Last Chance!

Voice your opinions about our strengths, what we do well, and what you would like to see us do better. There is one last chance to join a New Beginnings retreat-schedule-option this Friday and Saturday, October 10-11th. Contact Pete Curran with questions or sign-up in Fellowship Hall or online.

New Beginnings Session 6 and Final Wrap-Up

On October 26th, we invite everyone to join in the final session after worship. All are welcome in these final discussions. There will be a single worship service at 9:30am to allow time for the discussions and 4th Sunday Brunch.
