Sew 'n Tell
Wendy G
We love this jacket from Wendy! She also made a cotton lawn blouse to go with...can't wait to see that!

From Wendy: The jacket is from Ambassador, a silk and wool blend from early Autumn that I made in a Sarah Veblen workshop.

Sew 'n Tell
Guzel
Optical Illusion
We would never guess that this is not a shirt/skirt combo. we love this!

From Guzel: This is not a blouse and a skirt! This is a dress. I used the pattern #106 from Burda 2/2009. I made it from the Whitetail fabric : I selected the white color for the top of the dress and Cement gray color for the bottom.

 This week from Jennifer:
Hey Everyone,
I hope that some of you have been tempted to try working with the Japanese Denim. I'm so excited because I finally finished my fit muslin cut from adjusted pattern pieces...with straight side seams, and I love the fit! (Almost, I gained a little weight since I've worked with my pattern, so I need to let it out a little bit... then I"ll be very happy!) You can check out my beauty shots in my blog at jsterndesigns.com. Let me show you the adjusted pattern pieces.
 Here's the front leg...

And the back leg...

I adjusted the pieces in two steps. First I slashed the pattern below the crotch point and shifted the top of the leg over toward the center/inseam 3/4". The back leg needed a little more adjusting to get the entire hip curve to agree with the new straight side seam edge. Then trimmed the excess fabric that was added along the side edge off the inseam edge.

If you're tempted to try adjusting your jean pattern to take advantage of the beautiful selvage edges on the Japanese Denim, stay tuned because I shot a video tutorial showing how I adjusted my pattern... I should have it up by the end of the day! (I didn't want to post it until I was sure my adjustments translated into a wearable pattern :)
