Has Your Church or Synagogue Joined in the Effort to Fight Senior Hunger?

Dear Friend,

By now, every church and synagogue in Tarrant County has received a letter inviting them to join other congregations in an effort to end senior hunger. Has your congregation joined the fight?

With the help of our civic and political leaders, Sunday, May 4, 2014, has been designated Meals On Wheels Pass the Plate day all across Tarrant County. In conjunction with our founding faith-based partners, we are asking people of faith to prayerfully consider joining other congregations throughout Tarrant County in taking up a special offering on Sunday, May 4, to help feed our homebound neighbors for many years to come.

Forty years ago, eleven faith-based organizations came together with a vision to fight senior hunger in the inner city of Fort Worth. That work turned into Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County and today - forty years later - we serve all of Tarrant County and deliver nearly 1 million nutritious meals each year to seniors and other homebound individuals.

Just look at the difference those eleven faith-based groups have already made in the lives of tens of thousands of people in Tarrant County. I know that we can demonstrate to the community what God can do when people of faith come together.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: If you are a member of a Tarrant County congregation, please encourage your church or synagogue to participate in this exciting event. It does not matter whether your congregation is large or small, wealthy or in need. We can all participate at some level and be a part of the solution to end hunger in Tarrant County.*

Sincerely,

  • Collect an offering to support the construction of the meal-production facility
