Richland Library eNews                                                                            May 2014

In November, Richland County residents passed a $59 million bond referendum that will enhance library facilities over the course of the next several years.  Richland Library is envisioning a studio concept for its locations, where individuals can craft and develop skill sets and ideas that will take them far beyond the walls of the library.  This new approach will include special areas:  teen, career, arts and literature, and education.  Each studio will be designed to engage with different learning styles and offer opportunities for socializing, solitude and interactions with library collections and technology.

We are pleased to introduce something new for the summer of 2014 - the Richland Library Friends' Summer Learning Challenge.  The Summer Learning Challenge will operate like the reading clubs of the past.  Children, teens and adults will still be rewarded for reading but can now also earn rewards for what they create and experience at their library!  This means getting credit for reading, coming to programs or other events, or designing and following your very own learning track.

.

The Richland Library Friends will host The Literary Vine at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Richland Library Main.  Meet and mingle with authors as you stroll through the building, sample and learn about different wines and beers from around the globe and enjoy delicious food from Dupre Catering and Cupcake. Tickets for The Literary Vine are available through the Richland Library website and by calling the Development Office at (803) 988-0885
