FAA Administrator to Speak at AEA Convention
On Thursday, April 28, FAA Administrator Michael P. Huerta will open the morning regulatory session during the AEA International Convention & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida. Moderated by Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs, join FAA invited leadership team members from headquarters, including Huerta, along with officials from directorate and field and regional offices, as participants discuss important regulatory topics affecting your avionics business in 2016 and beyond. Topics include the FAA's reauthorization in 2016; the Part 23 rewrite affecting aircraft design, certification and maintenance; and updates on the FAA's efforts toward ADS-B implementation. EASA Director of Flight Standards to Address AEA Europe Connect Conference in Cologne, January 26
The first AEA Connect conference of 2016 is less than two weeks away. The two-day event takes place Jan. 26-27, and begins with an important regulatory update from the European Aviation Safety Agency. The unique lineup includes special guests: R. Genova Galvan, director of flight standards; Julian Hall, head of maintenance and production department; and Juan Anton, maintenance regulations section manager.  2015 was a year of change within the European aviation industry. This year's regulatory update will focus on the new maintenance procedures for general aviation aircraft; the revised Safety Management System proposal; B2L and L Part-66 licenses; the Light Part-M regulations; and Standard Changes and Repairs (CS-STAN). In addition, conference attendees will review the recent changes to the EU/U.S. Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement that affects every aviation business in Europe. From SESAR: 2015 European ATM Master Plan gives Further Boost to Europe's Role in Aviation
The members of the Administrative Board of the SESAR Joint Undertaking formally approved the 2015 edition of the European ATM Master Plan -- the main planning tool for air traffic management modernization in Europe. The latest edition presents the SESAR vision of ATM -- a critical element in the future air transport system -- and details the development and deployment activities necessary to achieve this vision between now and 2035. The plan follows the recent adoption by the European Commission of a new aviation strategy, giving fresh impetus to the competitiveness of this important industry for Europe.  More...  


EASA Proposes Change to TAWS Rule
The European Aviation Safety Agency published a Notice of Proposed Amendment, developed to address a safety issue related to terrain awareness warning systems. The objective of this task is to mitigate the risks of accidents categorized as a controlled flight into terrain for turbine-powered airplanes having a maximum certified take-off mass below 5,700 kg or a maximum operational passenger seating configuration between six and nine. DUNCAN AVIATION named BRIAN LEITSCHUCK to its paint and interior completions sales team; and LEE BOWES was named central U.S. regional manager. 

CONSTANT AVIATION named PAUL WITT vice president, AOG operations. In addition, Constant Aviation  merged with Lone Star AOG. The combined companies will operate under Constant Aviation and the full transition will take 30 days.

HONDA AIRCRAFT began  deliveries of the HondaJet. The company delivered the first aircraft Dec. 23 at its world headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina. This milestone follows final type certification from the FAA, which the HondaJet received on Dec. 8. 

CMD FLIGHT SOLUTIONS received FAA certification of its  Part 23 AML STC , now covering the Cessna CJ Series, Dornier, Beechcraft King Air and Premier Series, M7 Swearingen, Piaggio, and Pilatus aircraft. The approval covers Part 23 aircraft equipped with Rockwell Collins TDR-94/94D transponders, paired with Universal Avionics UNS-1(-)w FMS's or Rockwell Collins GPS-4000S GPS Systems. 

FLIGHTSAFETY INTERNATIONAL promoted DANIEL MACLELLAN to senior vice president, operations. DAVID OPALACH was named assistant manager of the company's Learning Center in Wilmington, Delaware.

STANDARDAERO launched a new, customized accelerated response program to support PT6A turboprop engine operators with hot section inspections, repairs and on-site field services. Also, by working with Rockwell Collins, StandardAero's Springfield, Illinois, business aviation MRO facility completed its first Rockwell Collins TTR-4100 TCAS 7.1 STC for a Falcon 50EX aircraft. 

COBRA SYSTEMS named MATT PETRASH director of marketing; THOMAS RADTKE director of sales; STEVE MAST senior corporate and military account executive; MIKE TOBIE west regional sales representative; STEVEN GENZ production supervisor; DAN KISKA lead technician; and BEN HYNUM assistant CAD technician. 

GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE promoted NICHOLAS ROBINSON to regional vice president of new aircraft sales for Africa. 

BANYAN AIR SERVICE named MISSY ROBERTO manager of the Banyan Pilot Shop. Banyan also plays host to an event on Feb. 18 that will help prepare end users on ADS-B, FANS-1/A, EFIS and/or IFE upgrades.  Rockwell Collins, Universal Avionics, Garmin and CMD Flight Solutions will be available to help with solutions and package incentives that will keep aircraft flying.

MAXCRAFT AVIONICS named MITCHELL CHIANG as a business and commercial specialist. 

GARMIN announced the selection of the G950 Integrated Flight Deck for the U.S. Forest Service fleet of Sherpa aircraft (Shorts SD3-60). 

ROCKWELL COLLINS said that  Air France Industries will soon upgrade four Airbus A330 aircraft for one of its customers with Rockwell Collins' PAVES Passenger Services System. 

BENDIXKING announced fellow AEA member company, SABRELINER AVIATION, as its exclusive launch partner supporting certification, installation and service work on the company's new AeroVue integrated flight deck offering for the Citation product line. 

WEST STAR AVIATION said it's Grand Junction, Colorado, location was approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. 

FLYING COLOURS CORP. secured an FAA STC for ADS-B Out for Bombardier Challenger 300 airframes. 

OSHINO LAMPS AMERICA named PHIL SCHWAIGER director of aerospace lighting sales. 

AVMAX said its parent corporation, Avmax Holdings Inc., has entered into a share purchase agreement dated Jan. 8, 2016, with Sunward Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. and Binder Capital Corp. Sunward is a corporation existing under the laws of the People's Republic of China and is listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
