Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.

Since I didn't get a chance to make announcements in July - the picnic was not a suitable venue - I'd like to use this column to share a few things:
- Jean Palmer and Portia Blackman
found a wonderful new space for our monthly meetings. Some of you may already be familiar with the
Montezuma Lodge No.1 on Paseo de Peralta. Starting with our August meeting, we'll gather there. (More detail below.)
- Although July is usually a month when everyone travels and not much happens, the
Social Committee continues to arrange new opportunities for meaningful community involvement (see
Linda McEnroe's report on the tour of the Food Depot below).
- Lastly, The
Steering Committee is pleased to announce two new members.
Virginia Asman,
our communications coordinator, and
Ellie Briggs,
member of the Transition Peer Group Council, are joining the Steering Committee beginning in August. Welcome Ginnie and Ellie!

A lifeline supporting students and their efforts to stay and succeed in school
TTN is pleased to welcome Julia Bergen, the Director of Communities in Schools of New Mexico. Julia holds a Masters in Education from Harvard University and brings 25 years of nonprofit management, program development and youth advocacy experience to her work.
Communi ties in Schools of New Mexico was founded in 2012 and began with two schools in Santa Fe. Two and a half years later, CIS is in ten schools, has a budget of 1.2 million dollars and has a staff of 16. The mission of CIS is to empower young people to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS uses an innovative framework for mitigating poverty related challenges that impede a young person to show up at school rested, nourished and ready to learn. The drop out rate is very high in New Mexico and dedicated staff and volunteers can make a great contribution with the wrap around services that are provided.
Our TTN retreat last October was a call to action and connection in our community. Please join us in a dyna
mic program to make a difference.
The monthly meeting is open to members and non-members.

Another Opportunity for Community Involvement
On Wednesday, July 8, several members of our Santa Fe TTN chapter had a chance to visit the Food Depot, an outstanding example of effective community service! The visit was arranged
Patty Smith, a member of our
Social Committee.
The Food Depot, Northern New Mexico's food bank, distributes food and household products to centers in nine counties each month. Its hunger network is composed of 135 partner agencies including emergency food pantries, hot meal programs, homeless shelters to name a few.
Nate Patrus,
Volunteer Coordinator, guided us through the warehouse on Siler Road where all the donated food arrives, is sorted, and stored for distribution. The facility is about two years old and the inventory is overwhelming. The organization relies heavily on Volunteers, whose support and participation are key to the continuation of feeding people who are HUNGRY. Clearly, this organization provides great opportunities for community involvement, and several of our members are already quite active. Thank you, Patty, for arranging such an energizing tour!

For three years, the Social Committee has arranged many events, including coffees, happy hours, and special trips to connect our members beyond the monthly meetings.
Something you would like to host? Hiking, art, theater? It's easy with MeetUp as a communications tool. The only requirement is that you host and manage the event that you start.
