Coordinator's Corner

Jutta von Gontard
Three years ago, on April 14, 2012, we launched our Santa Fe Chapter as an official chapter of the Transition Network.

Many of us were there and remember the excitement of creating a network of amazing women who support each other in their various transitions, learn from each other, and - have fun with each other. I'm grateful to our founder,
Jean Palmer, and my fellow Chapter leaders who made it all happen and continue to contribute their time and talent to keep our community vibrant and growing.

This year, we will mark our Third Anniversary with a Birthday Party on Sunday, May 31st, at the home of Maria Francis. Please save the date and help us celebrate each other! (More details in the May newsletter.)
Monthly Meeting

The April meeting will be, as usual, on the fourth Monday of the month:
Monday, April 27, from 5:45 to 7:30 at
Church of Christ on 1205 Galisteo x Cordova.

Please note that the meetings now start at 5:45 pm and that we no longer have Tuesday afternoon meetings.

Our March meeting
was a big success with   Christine McHugh presenting The Joys of Getting Right With Getting Older.

Thanks to the program committee and Christine for an energizing program!

Community Action:
Women's Health Fair on April 25th

The chapter will once again take part in the DeVargas Center Women's Health Fair on April 25.  Many potential members visited our table last year with close to 100 signs-ups for the drawing of TTN's  Smart Women Don't Retire - They Break Free.

The fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and we would like volunteers to staff the table in two hour shifts.
Please contact membership committee chair, Rachel Greenstein, at rachel.greenstein@gmail.com for more information.

Host Your Own TTN Events!

For close to three years, the Social Committee

(Ann Church and Linda McEnroe, co-cordinators, Maria Francis, Judy Donohue, Carolyn Moore, Sue Latham, and Patty Smith) has arranged many events, including the weekly coffee club, to connect our members through conversations, learning opportunities, fun road trips, parties, and much more.

As Ann announced at a recent meeting, the committee has been thinking hard about creating a mix of social events that our working members and those who don't drive at night can easily attend, like the once-a-month Movie Sunday (see column on the right for the April events calendar.)

We're also encouraging all of you whose needs and passions aren't currently being met to start your own event.
With MeetUp as a communications tool, this is really easy and far from "cyber magic."

The only requirement is that you host and manage the event that you start!

So, if you're a walker get a group of like-minded members together and choose your own pace and hiking terrain. Interested in the Classics,  Quantum Physics, opera, baking, cooking? ... the list is endless!

For those of you who don't want to become quite so proactive, the Social Committee has planned at least one - often more - events for each month of 2015.

Here a sneak preview for upcoming months:

May 27 - Cooking Class with Sue Latham

June 26 - Tour of the vaults at the School of Advanced Research

The coffee club will continue but will occasionally be replaced by other gatherings.

The easiest way to stay tuned to all events is through the MeetUp site or our webpage. If you haven't signed up for MeetUp yet, please do so now! It's easy, free, and your information is safe and can only be accessed by members.
