Junior Beta collects  for Toys for Tots

This year's Junior Beta Club's Toys For Tots collection is now under way! Over the past three years, the club's collection effort generated between 200-250 toys annually. Junior Beta members will receive one service hour credit for each new, unwrapped toy donated. Help make Christmas special for children in our community and donate to this very special cause.  Donations will be accepted through Dec. 16. Holding some of the toys already collected are Junior Beta members, from left: Junior Beta sponsor Keri Driver; and club members Haylee Beth Byrd, Aubrey Saldana, Alexis Chandler, Lilly Robinson and Jack Cox.

Gift-giving with
true Trojan spirit
at our own store

Shopping locally is greatly encouraged during the holiday season, and no place is more local than our own Trojan Nation Store!

The store is always open Tuesdays and Fridays when school is in session, but today and next Tuesday the store has extended hours. Here are the times you can shop:

Dec. 11, noon to 3 p.m.
Dec. 15, noon to 7 p.m.
Dec. 18, noon to 3 p.m.

Remember, all proceeds from the store, located in the CHS gym lobby, benefit our schools. If you are planning to buy Trojan gear and spirit wear, please support our own!

TU, SISTERS
hold food drive

Trojan University is holding a canned food drive to benefit the Carroll County Soup Kitchen. Please donate your canned goods to your homeroom teacher or any TU employee.

The SISTERS club also is collecting soup kitchen items, too, through Dec. 16.

Wild & Wacky
holiday wear
supports RFL

Are you feeling the holiday spirit??? Well show us next WEDNESDAY, Dec.16, with your wildest, wackiest, extreme holiday wear! Or just wear a tacky Christmas sweater ... come on, you know you have one somewhere. For a $1.00 donation to Relay for Life show us how you celebrate the holidays! See your first block teacher for a Relay for Life Support sticker.

Benchmark assessments
scheduled for next week

With the holiday break fast approaching, so are the second benchmark assessments. They are scheduled for Thursday, Dec.17, and Friday, Dec. 18, the last two days before the holiday break.

The last two two academic blocks will administer their assessments on Thursday and the first two blocks will administer their assessments on Friday. Students will be dismissed at 11:25 on both days.

In addition to knowing the assessment schedule, it is important to remember the nature of a true benchmark assessment. CJHS Principal Dr. Todd Simpson explains the intent and purpose of the assessments in this letter. Please take time to read it to develop a better understanding of their importance.
A LETTER FROM DR. SIMPSON

Soup kitchen holiday
'gifts'  honor teachers

Over the last several years our staff has requested that students make donations to the Carroll County Soup Kitchen in lieu of teacher gifts. We would like to continue with this tradition. So, in lieu of purchasing teacher gifts, please send canned or dry food items to school with your student(s). Students may drop off food items in the gym each morning through Dec. 18 between 7:15 and 7:35.

Students will also have the opportunity to fill out a Christmas donation form, which informs staff members that students have made donations in their honor. The form also has space for students to include a short message to the faculty member. Here is a link if you would like to print your form in advance.

In years past our staff members have been overwhelmed with the generosity displayed by students on their behalf; and they were especially overjoyed as they read the personal messages written by their students.

Thank you in advance for your continued support. On behalf of the CJHS staff, we wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season.
Sincerely,

Dr. Todd Simpson
