Holiday gift ideas with Trojan spirit

Shopping locally is greatly encouraged during the holiday season, and no place is more local than our own Trojan Nation Store!

The store is always open Tuesdays and Fridays when school is in session, but next Tuesday the store has extended hours. Here are the times you can shop between now and the holiday break:

Dec. 11, noon to 3 p.m.
Dec. 15, noon to 7 p.m.
Dec. 18, noon to 3 p.m.

Remember, all proceeds from the store, located in the CHS gym lobby, benefit our schools. If you are planning to buy Trojan gear and spirit wear, please support our own!

'FIGHT LIKE A TROJAN'

Also, don't forget to get your copy of "Fight Like A Trojan," a new book that chronicles Friday Nights in Carrollton over the past seven decades. You may purchase online and pick up your copy in the CHS front office. You also may pay for it in cash at CHS, the Trojan Nation Store and the Squire Shop. Purchase price is $30, and if shipped, an additional $10 charge is added.  Note: Books purchased after Dec. 15 will not be shipped until January.

CMS now on Facebook!

Finally! Carrollton Middle School has its own Facebook page! With less than a week in existence, the page already has generated a lot of activity and buzz. Please visit it frequently and "Like" it if you haven't already!

Quick survey
will  assist district
school improvement

Carrollton City schools are participating in the Georgia Parent Survey program and need your help.

All survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for school climate analysis.

The survey will remain open through Friday, Feb. 26.

Thank you in advance for taking time out of your busy schedule to help us in this important school improvement effort.

CMS teams earn top awards  at FIRST LEGO League  competition

Both Carrollton Middle School teams who competed in the West Georgia Regional FIRST LEGO League competition brought back first place trophies this past Saturday.

The Super LEGO team won first place for Best Presentation and the LEGO Legends won first place for Best Research.

CMS STEM teacher Gwen Benson said she was very proud of both teams.

"They, for the most part, are newbies," she said. "And they competed against students up to the eighth grade. That is a wide age difference and our teams were still very competitive." She noted the Super LEGOS team earned 247 points, the most any team she has sponsored has earned.

Fifteen teams competed at this event, held at Haralson County Middle School. Congratulations to both teams! You make us proud!
Vote for 'Moby Milk'!

Sixth grade science teacher and Science Club co-sponsor Charles Young's students used 946 milk cartons to create "Moby Milk" with the creative assistance of masking tape, reused construction paper and reused cardboard boxes. This project has been entered in the Made By Milk contest sponsored by Evergreen Packaging, a company that makes milk cartons and other products. CMS has a chance to win the grand prize of $5,000 or a People's Choice $2,500 award. CLICK HERE TO VOTE!

PTVO would like to thank all of the students who participated in our catalog fall fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who supported CMS by participating.

Those students who sold 18 items or more have earned a Hummer Pizza Party which will take place on Jan. 22, 2016. These students will ride in style to American Pie in a hummer limo and enjoy pizza and fun with their friends. More information will come home regarding the Hummer Pizza Party when we return to school in January.

Our Top 5 sellers for the fundraiser were:
Qua Nelson - top seller

Thank-you to our Top 5 sellers for working so hard and thank-you again to ALL the students who sold items. We wouldn't have been successful without your support. We appreciate your dedication!
