Placed at state!

CJHS Band Director Joe Huls put together a band ensemble that performed in the Junior Beta Convention talent contest, placing third in the state competition. Members of this ensemble are Ben Bradley, Thomas Harris, Nicole Bridges, Claire Schoenfeld, Jennifer Camillo, Audrey Best, Lauren Conley, Jeffrey Hume, Thomas Svegl, Eli Nunez, James Whitt, Mason Dill, Jadyn Dortch, John Robert Ray and Noah Kamishlian. Congratulations to all and thank you for representing CJHS in such a positive way!

Junior Beta collects
for Toys for Tots 

This year's Toys For Tots collection is now under way! Junior Beta members will receive one service hour credit for each new, unwrapped toy donated. Help make Christmas special for children in our community and donate to this very special cause.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 16.


Trojan University
holds food drive

Trojan University is holding a canned food drive to benefit the Carroll County Soup Kitchen. Please donate your canned goods to your homeroom teacher or any TU employee.

Tennis meeting
next Thursday

There will be a meeting for any boys or girls interested in playing on the tennis team this year. The meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. in the media center.

Drumline featured
in Christmas parade

The CHS Trojan Band drumline will march in the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade this Saturday, Dec. 5. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and will be broadcast on WSB-TV, Channel 2.

Holiday book drive
to benefit students

Now through Monday, Dec. 7, CES will be collecting new and gently used children's books for students prekindergarten to third-grade-plus to distribute to CES students at their homes.

Drop off locations are available at all Carrollton City Schools libraries/media centers.

to participate
in Hour of Code

The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. All Carrollton City Schools will participate in this global event the week of Dec. 7-13, national Computer Science Week. Above, these CJHS students last year learned code in this computer lab. This year, students will participate during FLEX classes on Thursday. Learn more about Hour of Code and also access programs you can do at home at   code.org.

Milestones assessment
reports to be mailed

Individual student assessment reports of the Georgia Milestones testing last spring will be mailed to homes in the coming days.

The reports will give parents a wealth of information about their child's performance on the assessment. Parents are encouraged to study the report thoroughly and to pay special attention to the accompanying letter that will further explain how to read the report. 

Parents are encouraged to contact their child's teachers or the school administration if they have any questions.

Parent survey to support
school improvement

Carrollton City schools are participating in the Georgia Parent Survey program and need your help. The survey contains only 24 questions. You will be able to complete the survey using your personal computers, smartphones or iPads.

All survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for school climate analysis.
