Broward Health Medical Center Receives Comprehensive Stroke Center Designation

Broward Health Medical Center (BHMC) has been recognized by the Agency for Healthcare Administration as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, making it part of an elite group of providers focused on complex stroke care. Comprehensive Stroke Centers are recognized as industry leaders and are responsible for setting the national agenda in highly-specialized stroke care.
Comprehensive Stroke Center designation recognizes hospitals that have state-of-the-art infrastructure, staff and training to receive and treat patients recovering from the most complex strokes. Requirements include having the most advanced imaging capabilities, 24/7 availability of specific treatments and staff with specialized education and competencies to care for patients.
"By achieving this comprehensive designation, BHMC has thoroughly demonstrated the greatest level of commitment to the care of its patients with a complex stroke condition," says Calvin E. Glidewell Jr., Chief Executive Officer at BHMC.
