COALITION COMMENTS ON THE MERGERS
Today was the extended filing deadline for the Comcast-Time Warner-Charter and AT&T-Direct TV mergers.  We were struck by the reply comments from Comcast last week and so we filed our own Comments late today to ask for more information from all parties.

The key part of of this posting is that Comcast is very defiant in their response!

We ask for very specific information to be provided to the FCC so that it can determine how best to utilize the MVPD for LPTV post-auction content carriage.

UNIVISION MAY BE ON THE BLOCK
Financial Times reports that US media mergers have dried up but Univision may be on the block.  Owners weigh options for US Spanish-language broadcaster. This could affect a lot of local markets which air hispanic content on LPTV stations. So check out this article, then again, it seems like this story comes around every quarter since Univision has so much debt.  Does this mean it is interested in the spectrum auction?
FCC PROPOSES DEFINING 'LINEAR' OVDs AS MVPDs
Multichannel News is reporting that the FCC is ready to release an NPRM about how linear video providers could be reclassified as cable companies, or something like that.  Still haven't fully grasped what this could mean for LPTV so I share my confusion with you all.   OVD & MVPD Could Be The Same
