News for your business

I-39 bridge improvements in Mosinee scheduled to begin after Labor Day

Work to improve the I-39 bridges at the WIS 153 interchange (Mosinee) is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 3.

Lunda Construction Company is the prime contractor for the $3.4 million project. Improvements include:

Removing and reconstructing new concrete bridge decks and parapet walls

New guardrail and some pavement replacement on I-39

Repairs to the concrete slope paving under the bridges

Some minor repairs to the median along WIS 153

To minimize impacts to traffic, work will be completed in two stages. The first stage is scheduled for completion in mid-November 2014.

Traffic on I-39 can expect to encounter single lane closures. The I-39 interchange ramps at WIS 153 will remain open at all times.

Motorists on their way to the Central Wisconsin Airport should adjust their travel time and be prepared to encounter possible delays.

Traffic impacts on WIS 153 include:

One lane in each direction between Orbiting Drive and Aviation Way.

Temporary, single-direction nighttime closures between the I-39 ramp terminals from Sunday to Thursday.

When eastbound WIS 153 is closed, traffic will be detoured via I-39 southbound, WIS 34, and I-39 northbound.

When westbound WIS 153 is closed, traffic will be detoured via I-39 northbound, Maple Ridge Road, and I-39 southbound.

Crews may use the sidewalk along westbound WIS 153 for flagging operations. Pedestrians may need to adjust their routes and travel time accordingly.

Construction for the entire project, is scheduled for completion by October 2015. The project will be paid for with a combination of federal, state and local transportation funds.

The Volunteer Wisconsin AmeriCorps program is administered by Marshfield Clinic in partnership with the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee. The program was developed on behalf of Volunteer Wisconsin, a coalition of local, regional and state organizations committed to serving as the state umbrella organization dedicated to volunteerism.

Volunteer Wisconsin AmeriCorps will place forty-eight (48) full-time AmeriCorps members to support the development of nonprofit organizational capacity to engage volunteers. Nonprofit organizations may apply to become an AmeriCorps host site by completing this application. Nonprofits that are selected are known as host sites and will be responsible for member recruitment. Marshfield Clinic will verify member eligibility and process the necessary paperwork.
