Calling all Scottsdale Leadership alumni! Please consider serving on a Scottsdale Leadership committee for 2014-15. Read committee descriptions here, and please reach out to the chair of any committee you are interested in joining.
SkyKids is seeking volunteers for its Nov. 8 Fly Day. SkyKids gives children with special needs an opportunity to fly in a general aviation aircraft with an expert pilot along with a parent/friend to experience the wonders and enjoyment of flight. The children gain confidence and self esteem by being "in command" of the amazing machine. Contact Ken Casey at 480-695-4660.
The following non-profit organizations are seeking board members:
Gina's Team - this Scottsdale-based non-profit promotes education and self-sufficiency for incarcerated women and men. Gina's Team recently won a FootSTEPS grant from Allegra Marketing & Print, headed by Eileen Rogers, Class 2. Contact Sue Ellen Allen at [email protected] or 480-343-8185.
Waste Not - their mission is to alleviate local hunger. They rescue excess perishable food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to a diverse network of agencies/organizations that feed the hungry. Contact Board President Brett Benton at 602-443-7652 or [email protected].
Hirsch Academy - this new charter school operates out of Paiute Neighborhood. Candidates should be passionate about improving education for this under-served, primarily Hispanic population, and care about south Scottsdale. Contact Board Member Wendy Riddell, Class 17, at 480-682-3902 or [email protected].
Scottsdale Sister Cities Association, Inc. - promotes peace through mutual respect and understanding via Sister Cities International, a non-profit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between the U.S. and international communities.
