 Coordinator's Corner
Our recent September Getting to Know Us monthly program was very successful. There were 62 women who came, learned about the latest programs we are offering, filled out a survey to let us know what was important to them and networked with others. We welcome the many new members who have joined us recently. We look forward to getting to know you and having you participate in our varied activities.
 National TTN: Congratulations to Susan Collins, the new TTN Executive Director. She has many outstanding credentials and has been very active on the National level and in the Philadelphia chapter. We invite her to visit us here in Santa Fe anytime.
The National Board has formed a Strategic Planning Committee based on issues identified at the April 2013 Leadership Retreat. There are five committees: Financial Model, Fundraising, Communication and Values, Governance, and Marketing and Branding. If you have skills or talents in these areas and would like to serve on a National committee, let me know right away (deadline is October 1) and I will get you more information and whom to contact.
Local TTN: We want you to share your skills, energy and enthusiasm for TTN by stepping up for leadership positions here in Santa Fe. This is an all volunteer organization and there will be openings for the following Steering Committee positions beginning in January 2014: Coordinator, Membership, Program. We would like two people to share the responsibilities for each of these positions. If you have questions or would like to be considered for any of these, please contact the current person serving in that job:
Peer Groups: Exciting news! On October 22 from 5:45-7:45 PM at LaFarge Library Community Room, 1730 Llano Street, there will be a Transition Peer Group Orientation and groups will be formed that evening. The Transition Peer Group, a unique benefit of TTN membership, consists of a small group of women (usually 8-12) who join together in each other's homes discussing topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. You must be in attendance that evening and be a member of TTN to participate. If not, you will have to wait until the next orientation which will be in April. The Social Peer Groups are fun, social activities that are another member benefit. They are listed on a Meet-up group just for TTN members, called Santa Fe Chapter The Transition Network. You get notices of all the great activities that have been planned. See elsewhere in the newsletter for more details. For those who are currently members, it's an easy process to renew: log in to www.thetransitionnetwork.org using your username and password. If your membership has already lapsed, you'll be automatically prompted to renew. Go to www.TheTransitionNetwork.org click chapters, Santa Fe, and then read all about us and also check the events calendar, member directory and any other categories of interest to you.
Political Campaigning: Because we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, it is against the law for TTN to both participate in or endorse political campaigns. TTN welcomes politicians to participate in our activities as memebrs or visitors, but we cannot offer a platform for their campaign. This also means candidates and their supporters cannot use our membership brochure display table for campaign literature.
Gratitude: Thanks to all who attended our September program and to those who bring guests to our meetings to introduce them to the organization. Special thanks to the presenters who did an outstanding job and to their committee members who supported them. Thanks to those who have shared how much this organization has meant to them and filled a real need in their lives. We are grateful to hear we've made a difference.

Topic: Live Wild. Live Wise. Heal Like Crazy.
Remember a time when you had space in your life: within your body, within your thoughts, within your feelings? Or perhaps you can't remember a time that you ever felt a sense of total freedom and at the same time you have a longing for it. Either way access is at hand.
Dr. Judy Scher's presentation will introduce you to a larger story of yourself, a story that allows you to be authentically with your full being. It introduces you to your sacred wound that each of us carries inside. Within that wound is a most precious gift for you: presence. Your true voice and true self emerges from here unadulterated, wild, yet harnessing the wisdom of the ages. From here all possibilities exist and you spiral into a more integrated person.
Along with a sensory experience that will help you tap into this unbiased wisdom within, you'll be introduced to 4 simple principles that support the awakening of sustainable joy and well being.
PLEASE NOTE: The monthly programs are fragrance free. We are meeting in public places and we must also be respectful of their policies that only allow service dogs. As of May 1, 2013, this policy will be in effect at TTN meetings in public places and in homes as well. |

Social Events Report
On Saturday, September 7th, TTN members Maria Francis (pictured right), Shela Doran-Benyon, Barbara Axton, Maria Pisa and Patty Armstrong went to the Salman Raspberry Ranch near Mora. Each picked around 3-4 pounds of fresh raspberries in just an hour. Afterward, they had lunch at the cafe, which included raspberry pie and raspberry ice cream. With instructions for freezing and great recipes provided by the gift shop, they'll be eating raspberries for many weeks to come. Envious other TTN members who missed this trip are thinking about planning another trip.
 On Saturday, September 28, TTN members Sheila Doran-Benyon (pictured left), Ann Church, Susan Latham, Monica Oechsner, Julia Kinney, Carolyn Moore, Carolyn Roock, Susan Wilson, and Prasant Ziskind went on an arts tour on the High Road to Taos. They had a great time on the gorgeous, early autumn day and too many photos. Click here to see more photos.

TRANSITION POEMS |  |

Taking time to allow change to happen,
Remembering the depth of my soul
And allowing it to find expression.
Not to worry or feel anxious
So many joyful moments in this journey and
I am so happy to be alive.
Thankful and grateful for my independence and strength,
I am challenged and sometimes overwhelmed but
Onward I go into unknown places and new relationships,
Not looking back but feeling the growing wisdom gleaned by life's experiences as my guide.

QUANTUM PHYSICS BOOK CLUB FORMING | |

What are the physicists telling us about the nature of reality? Why does time only seem to move in one direction? Did the big bang really happen? Will the stars and planets ever stop speeding away from each other? Are there other universes besides our own? Does free will exist? How many dimensions are there and why can't we experience all of them? These and other questions may be explored in a new discussion group focusing on recent scientific breakthroughs, primarily in quantum physics.
The group may choose its own form of exploration: choosing one or more books to read and discuss, bringing information to the group about new advances, outside presenters and any other ways to keep us up to date on contemporary science. No previous experience in science is required but, on the other hand, is deeply appreciated.
