Greetings and blessings to you.  I was so glad to see such a wonderful turnout at the annual CPLC Volunteer Appreciation Picnic!  Special congratulations to St. Ann, Coppell, St. Joseph, Richardson, and St. Gabriel, McKinney, parishes which raised the most funds in support of the 2013-14 Baby Bank Campaign.  Thank you to all the parishes that helped raise funds to support the cause of life!

I hope you are enjoying the summer with your family and friends, but remember, abortion never takes a vacation!  There are still plenty of opportunities to support life and liberty!  The Fortnight for Freedom, which began on June 21, will continue through July 4.  Several parishes are hosting additional events throughout the two-week period; in particular, St. Joseph, Richardson, will host a diocesan-wide closing event this Sunday, July 6, including a Patriotic Rosary at 1:30 p.m. (preceded by 12:15 Mass), and a luncheon program at 2:30 on Religious Liberty and Faithful Citizenship in the St. Joseph Room.  Additional parish resources are available at dallascatholicadvocacy.org If your parish would like a Faithful Citizenship presentation, please contact us at civic@prolifedallas.org or 214-392-7545.

Another opportunity to exercise your Faithful Citizenship and #Stand4Life will be announced on a July 17 state-wide webcast.  More details to follow soon, so keep a look-out!

Also this summer, we will host two events specifically for you -- our treasured Parish Pro-Life Coordinators:

  • July 12  Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Orientation, 9 a.m. - 12 noon, Immaculate Conception, Grand Prairie, for Parish Pro-Life Coordinators who have served less than 18 months.  (Long-term Parish Pro-Life Coordinators are also welcome to offer their ideas and experiences to the new coordinators.)

In addition to these events, please be sure to mark your calendars for:

In the month of July, we celebrate the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. Except for Mary, the mother of Jesus, few women are more honored in the Bible than Mary Magdalene. The Scriptures describe her as the one from whom Jesus cast out seven demons and it is generally accepted that she lived a life of sin before encountering Jesus and repenting. Afterwards, she became one of the closest disciples of Jesus, following Him even to the cross. The Gospels record her as first "official" witness to the Resurrection. While the Blessed Mother gave life to Jesus through the Holy Spirit, Mary Magdalene saw Jesus come to life again. She "took hold of Him and would not let Him go." Now it is up to us to take hold of Him spiritually and not let Him go. We must through faith maintain our relationship with Him so that others may witness our love for God that is evident through our pro-life ministry.

May God's blessings be upon you and your family, as you help to strengthen our commitment to the sanctity of life.

God bless,

David
