Happy Holidays, everyone! We've been very busy here with collection maintenance recently. Although it doesn't make much of a visible impact, having deeply organized collections makes it possible to develop them more thoughtfully and tailor them specifically to our town. Our recent efforts will pay dividends moving forward as they inform our purchasing strategies. Now we only have 6,373 rogue items left to track down...
There are some immediate visible benefits to good collection organization, though. Mysteries have been broken out from our regular fiction into their own section, as have science fiction & fantasy. Nonfiction DVDs and audiobooks are now separate from their fiction kin. So if you are looking for a new fantasy read or informative audiobook, you don't have to browse the entire collection to find what you are looking for. It is all in one place!
Have you seen our gleaming, glorious new book drop? You should come and see our gleaming, glorious new book drop. The Webster First Federal Credit Union donated $500 toward its purchase, collected from employees who payed for the privilege to wear jeans to work. We made up the difference with grant money, the gentlemen from the highway department lugged it up the stairs, and now we have a gleaming, glorious new book drop.
Thank you all for a wonderful 2015. I hope that 2016 will bring more and better literary resources into our town. I hope the year brings more library programs, events, and clubs, and more people coming through our doors to enjoy them. And I hope that it brings something completely unexpected. As a small town library, we have the opportunity to be extremely adaptive to our local needs. Let us know what they are, and we will do everything we can for you.
