It's Candy Time!
February 2016
So, , do you like chocolate?

I'll admit it -- I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day. But you know what I do like? Chocolate. In fact, I don't even have to eat the chocolate to enjoy it -- just making chocolate treats for others is enough for me! (Most of the time...)

Whether you're looking for a sweet gift for a fellow chocolate lover or want to bake up a storm for a Valentine's Day party, this month's newsletter has what you're looking for! Read on to discover where to buy luscious vegan candies and who has the best Valentine's recipes.

I recently had the opportunity to appear on Focus on Albany, a locally focused Internet radio show, to chat with host Cynthia Pooler about the popularity and benefits of plant-based diets.

Check out the replay of the show to hear the full interview and get some tips on making tasty vegan comfort food to enjoy while the weather is cold!
Get Your Hands on Tasty Vegan Candy!
fancy-chocolates.jpg Every year, I try to find merchants that make or sell vegan candy for every holiday. This Valentine's Day, I stumbled upon two that are 100% vegan -- so you can shop to your heart's content knowing that every product is free of animal-derived ingredients!

  • Legusta's Luscious -- Truffles, barks, and more -- including anatomically correct hearts!
  • Sjaak's -- 100% organic as well as vegan!

Plan a Plant-Based Break

Did you have "winter break" when you were growing up? When I was a kid, we got a week off smack in the middle of February -- and living in the Northeast, that pretty much meant mucking about in the snow every day!

Whether you're buried under a blizzard (and my heart goes out to those of you who are still digging out from last week's craziness) or basking in the sun, winter break is a great time to enjoy a vegan-friendly vacation!

Of course, there's nothing wrong with sticking close to home for a good, old-fashioned "staycation!" Enjoy the outdoors with a day of skiing, snowshoeing or hiking. Check out local museums and family activities. Or stay in and play all your favorite games while enjoying some tasty vegan snacks.

Whatever you do, enjoy it! Taking time to unwind is an essential part of maintaining good health.

Next month: Spring comes marching in and along with it, the very beginning of greens season! Can you believe it's coming already?

Stay warm, stay well and enjoy your Valentine's Day treats with the one you love. If you're single--hey, more for you!

God Bless!
