Registration for SW 305: Spring and Fall terms

To register for SW 305 for Spring 2014 you MUST complete this form. Completing this form is the only way to receive an override into SW 305 for the Spring 2014 term. 

 

To register for SW 305 for Fall 2014 you MUST complete this form indicating your preferred section of SW 305. Completing this form is the only way to receive an override into SW 305 for the Fall 2014 term.   

 

Please make sure you complete the form for the correct term. Permissions will be given to current CASC students in order of class standing. Announcements regarding registration for SW 401, the CASC capstone course will be made in the upcoming weeks. If you have any questions, contact Alice.

 

"Do you see what I see?" cultural appropriation event

The CASC Student Board is hosting a dialogue event centered around cultural appropriation on campus. With recent incidents of cultural appropriation on our own campus, the CASC Student Board invites students to a night of learning and sharing. Students interested in the campus climate, learning more about cultural appropriation, or sharing their story are invited to attend.

A Tribute to King: Peter A. Geffen
Activist and entrepreneur, Peter A. Geffen, Founder and Executive Director of KIVUNIM, will be sharing an incredible story of an alliance between Muslims and Jews in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Diversity Beyond the Quota
The Advancing the Dream Committee presents an opportunity for students to learn about how anti-blackness frames the diversity discussion, and to look at policy and procedures development for particular areas on campus. Learn more and register here.

Global Health Symposium
This year's symposium's goal is to address global health challenges in the developing world and how we can better meet those needs by understanding those we serve from different cultural contexts. Three different speakers will be featured to inspire attendees, while initiating small group discussions to create new ideas for the future of the University of Michigan's role in global health. Undergraduate Research Award

In recognition of the extraordinary academic achievements of our undergraduate students, the University Library announces the fourth annual U-M Library Undergraduate Student Research Award for excellence in library research conducted in support of an undergraduate student project. Students who have written or participated in a research paper/project from Spring 2013-Winter 2014 term should submit their work for consideration. Students need a faculty sponsor. Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program for US students offers students and recent alumni the opportunity to work and conduct research in over 140 countries. There are academic, arts, and teaching assistantship grants available. Learn more and apply here

Advancing Transportation Leadership and Safety Internship

The Center for Advancing Transportation Leadership and Safety (ATLAS Center) is now accepting applications for a 10-week summer internship program from June 2 to August 8, 2014 at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute in College Station, Texas. Five junior-level undergraduate students will be selected to participate and the internship will include active involvement on safety-related research projects with faculty at Texas A&M University. A stipend of $5,000, in installments, will be provided to support the student for ten weeks. Engage Chicago is an immersive field study program, designed to give students a powerful summer learning experience in one of the world's most dynamic cities. Institute for Recruitment of Teachers

The Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT) is now accepting applications for its 2014 cohort! IRT specifically aims to increase underrepresented minority enrollment in graduate school. U-M Social Justice Fellowship in Metro Detroit

Undergraduate students are invited to become a U-M Social Justice Fellow during Summer 2014. Fellows join an educational team and facilitate the Summer Youth Dialogues on Race and Ethnicity in Metropolitan Detroit Program (SYD). SYD increases dialogue among high school age youth in metropolitan Detroit, the nation's most segregated metropolitan area. Bonderman Fellowship

The Bonderman Travel Fellowship offers four graduating LSA seniors the chance for an eight-month international trek. Each spring, four fellows will receive $20,000 to travel to at least six countries in two regions of the world, where they'll get to immerse themselves in independent and enriching explorations. Learn more and apply hereApplications due March 24 at 11:59 pm.

 

Oxfam America Seeks Change Agents

Oxfam America is accepting 50 undergraduates entering their sophomore or junior year to attend a week-long training program in Boston, MA from July 19-25. All costs of attending the training will be covered by Oxfam. CHANGE Leaders will join or form an Oxfam Club and implement an Oxfam campaign on campus during the 2014-15 academic year. AFL-CIO Union Summer Internship Program

The 2014 AFL-CIO Union Summer internship program wants to recruit the best and brightest activists for a 9 week paid internship program that introduces students to the labor union movement. 2014 Union Summer internship dates are June 16 - August 15, 2014. MBA Prep Fellowship

Career Prep (CP) is an 18 month career leadership fellowship for underrepresented minorities graduating in Fall 2015 or Spring/Summer 2016. The CP program works with fellows interested in a variety of business industries (i.e, Consulting, Nonprofit/Govt, Tech/Engineering, Marketing, Finance and Media/Entertainment). Center for Progressive Leadership Spring/Summer Internship

The Center for Progressive Leadership is seeking an intern to help support a Michigan leadership development nonprofit, specifically with tasks related to the Economic Justice Alliance of Michigan, minimum wage campaign, and alumni engagement.
