Sage In-District Services
Every year child study teams and districts identify students whose needs are beyond what the structure of the traditional school and child study team can meet. Child study team professionals understand what these discouraged students need but also recognize that they lack the time and resources necessary for the most effective intervention. Sage In-District Services is designed to fill the gap in service between traditional in-school support and an out-of-district placement. Our skilled clinical team will work with the child study team, academic staff and administration to provide a seamless counseling experience for the student. With the right therapeutic relationship and counseling, students will gain the support, strategy and insight they need in order to make progress in school. Sage In- District Services brings both the educational and counseling expertise that are the essential components of successful school-based intervention. On behalf of all of us here in Rochelle Park, our holiday wish is for a happy, healthy, fulfilling and peaceful New Year to all of our faculty, students and their families.

Three of our students were inducted into Rochelle Park's Chapter of the National Honor Society. During our candle lit traditional ceremony held on December 16th.

Congratulations to the following students who became members :

Kelly D. (Senior)

Kylie D. (Senior)

Nicholas H. (Junior)

Our annual holiday trip to the Dellridge Nursing Home by our choral group was a huge success.  The patients really enjoyed listening and singing along to the traditional holiday songs.

Classes resumed on January 2nd after our Holiday Recess. On January 9th, we are planning an Advisory Group team building activity in the gym.  Although our January calendar seems relatively quiet after a very eventful month of December, students will be preparing for their Midterm Exams on January 13th through January 17th.

Mr. Montesano will continue meeting with our seniors in January as they begin to hear back from the colleges to which they applied.  He will be assisting them with the decision process. Mr. Montesano will also meet with our Juniors beginning this month on a more frequent basis as they start to plan for next year and their transition plan.  He is also hoping to have a few more internships lined up in January.

Sage Day Boonton students will be participating in a school wide day of service on January 20, 2014.  Students will be preparing bag lunches to be distributed at the Market Street Mission, an organization that serves homeless men in the Morristown area. There will be a food drive leading up to the event and student representatives will be visiting the shelter earlier in the month. Visiting students and staff will be given a guided tour of the facility and the opportunity to serve lunch later in the afternoon. All involved are looking forward to a rewarding experience to begin the New Year.

Sage Day Boonton 11th grade art students are in the final phase of a cooperative large scale painting project.  Students reinforced their understanding of the elements and principles of art by creating large paintings inspired by black line paintings of artist Paul Klee. Working on a much larger scale than they were used to, enabled students to step out of their comfort zone and see how scale impacts art.

Mr. Montesano continues to be available for students and parents with questions about the process of transitioning from high school into the world of careers and colleges. Feel free to contact him at [email protected] with any questions you may have about finding colleges, the application process, or decisions about reaching future career goals.
