Welcome Kelli Nairn!

I took my first yoga class over 15 years ago in Seattle and felt completely awkward, but also immediately fell in love with it. I continued to explore many varieties of yoga, mostly in New York, and it wasn't until I was living in Connecticut 7 years ago that I found Alignment based Vinyasa. I joke that it has my church, therapy and gym workout in one hour. I can walk on my yoga mat frazzled or feeling heavy and always step off feeling grounded and
light hearted and with greater clarity than two hours earlier. Yoga restores my humor, helps me sleep better and allows me to physically and emotionally move gracefully through my days. My teaching style is playful, supportive and challenging. To do this, we start by embracing our body in the condition it is in and celebrate whatever space is available to move. What I strive to do as a teacher is help you reveal and remove those obstacles that might be getting in the way of you living a healthy, wonderful life. I believe that the best version of yourself already exists inside of you.
You will find Kelli teaching:
Vinyasa Yoga in PG
Fridays: 7:45-9am and
Saturdays: 10:30-11:45am
Welcome Tara Feldeisen!

Tara is a certified yoga & kids yoga instructor.  In addition to her love of the practice, Tara brings joy and compassion into the classroom.  She has a special place in her heart for children and families and we are thrilled to have her on our teaching staff!
You will find Tara teaching:

Toddler & Me Yoga: Mondays in PG, 11-11:30am
Kids Yoga in Seaside, Wednesdays 4-4:45pm and Salinas, Thursdays 10:30-11:15am
Family Yoga in Salinas, Sundays 4:30-5:30pm
Welcome Kerensia Cochran!

At an early age Kerensia found herself very passionate about the potential of growth, well being, and healing of all people. She spent years growing in companies and leading in management roles but found that something was very much missing in her work life. This passion for learning, teaching, and healing allowed her to know that instructing yoga was in her path before ever taking a class.
Kerensia received her 200 hr TT Vinyasa certification in Santa Cruz and was taught by her mentor, Rolf Gates. In TT she learned to fade into the background during class and allow each student to be guided through their own unique, meditative experience. Kerensia moves students through a dynamic flow of poses, bringing awareness to the body and to the breath. Greatly inspired by her mentor, she shares what she learns through being a student of life and brings her heart into every class.

Kerensia's intention is to give others tools in finding peace on and off their mats through yogic philosophy and the 8 Limb Path. She was taught by her mentors that to be a successful teacher is to be an outstanding student so she spends much of her time practicing studentship.

Kerensia is currently subbing various Hatha & Flow classes.

Monthly Ayurveda Tip
Triphala

The mother of Ayurvedic herbs
One of the most widely used and popular herbs used in the Ayurvedic apothecary is actually made up of three fruits. This gem of a combination is called Triphala. They say in India, if you don't have a mother, take triphala. The reason being, Triphala, when made in different combinations, takes care of what ails you and has been used in all sorts of maladies from digestive problems, constipation, cancer, eye problems and even used as a toothpaste for teeth disorders.

8 Day Group Ayurvedic Cleanse

Oct 11-19, 2014
With Connie Mardon

NO STRESS - JUST SUCCESS!

Have you ever wanted to go on a cleanse but feel you will have to drop all your activities including work?   Or maybe you feel scared that it will be too hard and you will be starving, and you might give up right in the middle.   These are some of the reasons people shy away from taking the time to rid their bodies of excess ama.  Ama in Sanskrit means toxicity.   According to Ayurveda, ama can also permeate the mind and the body.  In this day and age where pollutants are abound and stress is prevalent, we need to rejuvenate and reset our bodies and minds and start from scratch.  How about setting a new baseline for starting new and enjoying a strong digestion once again?

This month's newsletter is dedicated to one of Yoga's Great Masters: BKS Iyengar.
On August 20th, at the age of 95, Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar shed his humanly form.  For those of you who are not as familiar with who he is, I have included several links about his life and his life's work.  It is important for all of us to recognize the great contributions that he gave to yoga and the legacy that he leaves f
or all of us. Directly and indirectly, he has impacted all traditions of yoga.  The way we know yoga would not be possible without him.
He was an incredibly bright light that led by example and was of true service to others and this world. His teachings forever changed the course of my life and the lives of many.  And for this,  I am eternally grateful.

Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.  B.K.S. Iyengar

With deep bows, Namaste

This workshop will break down the mystery of this easy, but in-depth healing system.
Provided: Tea: A very healing, yet easy to prepare tea. You probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen!

"Yoga is the rule book for playing the game of Life, but in this game no one needs to lose. It is tough, and you need to train hard. It requires the willingness to think for yourself, to observe and correct, and to surmount occasional setbacks. It demands honesty, sustained application, and above all love in your heart. If you are interested to understand what it means to be a human being, placed between earth and sky, if you are interested in where you come from and where you will be able to go, if you want happiness and long for freedom, then you have already begun to take the first steps toward the journey inward." - BKS Iyengar
