For those of you who may be new to the Westside or who may not know about your local neighborhood advocacy group, this newsletter has been designed to give you periodic updates to the group's activities. OWN is organized to:
- Inform residents of the Westside of their rights and of the impact of governmental and commercial actions upon their lives
- Facilitate the provision of needed goods and services for the residents of the Westside.
- Sponsor activities on the Westside which reinforce community spirit and citizen initiative.
- Communicate to government the concerns of Westside residents and residential property owners.
OWN Board of Directors meetings and membership meetings are noticed in our
Westside Story
newsletter, on our web page (westsideneighbors.org) and typically in the
Westside Pioneer
weekly newspaper. OWN identifies and then works through projects to make sure that the concerns of our neighbors and neighborhoods are heard by local government and planning entities. We all are volunteers and welcome interested Westsiders to join and work with us to make our neighborhood a better place to live, work, and play.

The Citizens' Transportation Advisory Board is seeking a Volunteer
The City of Colorado Springs is seeking two volunteers, representing the City as a district six representative, and an alternate, to serve on the Citizens' Transportation Advisory Board (CTAB). Collectively, the Board advises City Council on matters relating to the City's multi-modal transportation system, such as: trails, bicycling and pedestrian issues; neighborhood issues; trucking and freight movement issues; public transit issues; business issues; and land development and construction issues. CTAB meetings take place the first Tuesday of each month from 1:30 - 4 p.m. Volunteers should have an expertise and/or interest in transportation and transportation-related concerns.
Please submit your application and resume via web form by Friday, January 8, 2016. The application can be found online at
under the Government tab, on the City Council page, under Boards and Commissions. For questions or more information, please call Samantha Gunther, (719) 385-5453.
Volunteers needed to serve on the Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee, Deadline Extended
The Colorado Springs City Council is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on the Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee (PSSTOC). They are looking to fill one at-large vacancy and one alternate member.
The PSSTOC monitors the expenditure of the Public Safety Sales Tax (PSST) funds and ensures that the items approved by voters at the November 6, 2001 election are accomplished with PSST funds. Additionally, the PSSTOC reviews the annual PSST and General Fund Preliminary Budget as submitted to City Council to ensure that the baseline funding for General Fund public safety expenditures is maintained.
Meetings typically take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. There may be other occasional meetings as necessary.
Please submit your application and resume via web form by Friday, January 8, 2016. The application can be found online at
www.ColoradoSprings.gov under the Government tab, on the City Council page, under Boards and Commissions. For questions or more information, please call Samantha Gunther, (719) 385-5453.
