This week in the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin-ELCA

Week of March 30, 2014

We are a church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work.

We do God's work in the world--restoring and reconciling communities--not because God needs us to do so, but because our neighbor does. We pursue justice and seek peace no matter how long the journey or wide the chasm.

We Walk Together

The synod staff will pray for these congregations and rostered leaders during their next weekly staff meeting. We invite you to include them in your prayers this week as well.

Hope Lutheran Church, River Falls, Pastor Sandy Johnson

Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Pastor Jim Page

Bethel Lutheran Church, Hudson, Pastor John Lestock

Nathaniel Lutheran Church, Bruce, Pastor Joel Olsen

We also give thanks for the life and service of Mae Muschinske, who passed away February 26. Mae was connected to our synod in many ways, including being the Rev. George Muschinske's wife, and mother to the Rev. Keith Muschinske and the Rev. Peter Muschinske, all of whom are rostered in our synod.

We Roll Up Our Sleeves And Get To Work

Bad weather is no excuse for missing worship in Bayfield!  Gary Madson wasn't going to let a snowstorm keep him away from church one Sunday morning. He just jumped on his tractor (nicely equipped with a snowplow) and plowed his way out of his driveway and down the road into town.

Thanks to Mary Meierotto, Bethesda Lutheran, for sharing this photo.

Middle school youth from all over the synod gathered at Bethany in Rice Lake last weekend. Leslie Hunter's message resonated with the kids who were completely engaged in the high energy event.

View more photos on our Facebook page and be sure to read the captions. Photos and captions provided by Rev. Greg Kaufmann.

Chordially Yours, a group of musicians from Holy Cross in Glenwood City, rolled up their sleeves and went to work raising funds for the local community center. Most of these folks are brand new guitar players beginning to play for the first time in January of this year. Money raised went to re-build the new nursing home that had a major fire which damaged the facility. Thanks to Pastor Diane House for the photo and story
