Some exciting news from Warwick Marsh - 2.19 mins |
We are learning so much from the survey responses. With this being our very first survey, we have an exciting first glimpse of the demographics of the Canberra Declaration community. Even more encouraging are the number who have volunteered to help the Canberra Declaration in some way! Because the number of completed surveys has increased from 305 to 451 in just one week, we have extended the survey for another seven days. We would like to aim for 600 by midnight on Thursday 28 August! It will only take you about 5 minutes to complete.
Our goal is to have many more Australian citizens who will pray and take action in response to the many issues we face today. That's why we have taken this step of faith to double the number of signees to 100,000 in one year. Having more signees adds strength to the submissions we make to various inquiries on behalf of the Canberra Declaration. The submission we made yesterday to a Senate Committee in regard to the Medical Services (Dying with Dignity) Bill 2014 is an example which shows why our numbers matter. Read our Submission to Inquiry into Euthanasia Bill. There's still a last few hours of opportunity to make your personal submission through this easy method.
In celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Canberra Declaration, it has been a joy to promote the Aussie produced and directed movie FREEDOM. Those who completed the survey were sent an invitation to an advance premiere showing of the movie as a guest of Heritage Films. Yesterday they celebrated their 10th anniversary of making quality Christian Films available in Australia with a world premiere showing of FREEDOM at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland (close to their office).
Today the movie began showing in about 150 cinemas around Australia. Watch the trailer
here. It is important to get to see the movie in the first four days as this determines how long it will continue showing. You can
check
this link to see whether there is a showing close to you. You can also 'like' and 'follow' FREEDOM on Facebook through
this link.
Last week we shared about GOD'S NOT DEAD, another Christian movie currently being screened. Due to the overwhelming support for this movie in the opening week, we are excited to announce that it will continue to play throughout the coming week. This is your extended opportunity to see the movie for yourself. Click this link for all the details about the movie and where it is showing. You can watch the trailer too.
And now we have some more exciting news.
More Prizes!! Greater value!!
We have an extended list of prizes to offer those doing the survey thanks to the generosity of our donors (see below the full list of prizes worth $4,000 now offered). The number receiving these prizes will now be 85 rather than the original 28!
- The best 3 creative suggestions on how to double our numbers will be awarded prizes of $300 worth of donated books, Bibles and DVDs.
- A further 25 people with good ideas will be awarded a free copy of "Discovering Australia's Christian Heritage" by Col Stringer and a DVD from Heritage Films.
- A further 60 of you with commendable suggestions for signatures or fundraising will receive a prize of a Bible or a DVD.
This is your extended opportunity to be involved by doing the survey.
Let's give thanks to God for Christian media with its potential to positively impact Australian culture and society. As Heritage Film says on their website, "movies change people - people change the world". Pray that many will use Christian media so "making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:16).
We look forward to reading your surveys. Thank you in advance!
Yours for a growing Canberra Declaration community,
David Rowsome and Warwick Marsh
