Brrr!

Holy Eucharist cancelled for Wednesday, May 14

Due to the graveside funeral for William (Bill) Hinton, there will be no celebration of the Holy Eucharist at Grace Church on May 14.  The funeral will be at 1:00 pm at Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton.  If you have any special memories of Bill, please email them to Alice.

Celtic Service at the Labyrinth

Our Celtic Eucharist for this month will be Sunday, May 18 at 6:00 pm at the labyrinth.  We were weather-threatened for the April service, but hopefully will be able to be outside this coming Sunday.  Please join us and bring others with you.  This is a great opportunity to have a different sort of worship experience.

No Schedule Change for Sundays!

Having received no indications of opposition to not changing to an earlier Sunday schedule for the summer, we will continue with Sunday services at 10:15 am.  Thank you to those who sent in a positive response!

Service for Alzheimer's Group

This announcement is going out to the community and all are welcome.

"You are invited to join the Ecumenical Society for a community-wide event on Saturday, May 17th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church (216 E. 6th Street).  This prayer vigil is for The Walk to End Alzheimer's.  Please come out and pray for a cure, pray for our loved ones who are suffering, for those who have lost the battle against the disease and certainly for those who are caring for a loved one.  This opportunity is hosted by Grace Episcopal Church and it will offer a wonderful experience to see, hear all about and walk the Labyrinth,  right here in our very own back yard!  A love offering will be welcomed.  For further information, please contact Sherri Turner @ 513-317-6932 or sbsturner@gmail.com"

Alternative Memorial Day Observance

A few weeks back, I (Alice) was approached by Mike Freeland, "friend" of Grace Church, about having a service in observance of Memorial Day that would be an alternative to many traditional events--parades, flags, etc.--a time to remember in a solemn way those who have lost their lives while serving in combat, to acknowledge the horror of war, and to reaffirm our commitment to peace.  Mike served in WWII and is especially passionate about giving a voice to those who have no voice.  The service is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at 6:00 pm at Grace.  We hope many of you will want to come and join with us in remembrance and in praying for peace.

Watch the Red House Transform

In case you haven't noticed, the red house that Grace owns that is at the corner of E. 5th St. and Liberty is sporting a new roof.  Very little repair needed to be done underneath the old roof--which had been a source of concern.  Within the next couple of weeks, a crew of volunteers will come in and clean the inside so that "Grace's Closet" can move into the north side of the building.  Floor repair is needed in two rooms on the south side, so those rooms will be closed off for now, and the third room on the south side will be used for storage.  "Grace's Closet" is a clothing program, begun by Susan Anderson and assisted by Kurt Anderson, which has been operating out of Micah MIssion.  Individuals or families in need of clothing are seen by appointment by a volunteer who is very dedicated to this mission.  We will soon be able to make our own donations of wearable clothing for all ages to a program that bears our name!  Thank you, Kurt and Susan!
